Senior School Notices

TERM 4 WEEK 9

Dear valued member of the PLC community,

    Message from the Principal

It is hard to believe that we are already at the end of the school year. Another year has flown by and as quickly as it started, the year is over. As we head into Senior School Speech Night this evening, I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate every student for their achievements and their effort this year. We have seen incredible achievements and progress in many students in both the Junior School and Senior School – academically, in The Arts, and in Sport. I congratulate every student on their effort in 2022.

At the end of this year, we have some staff leaving and I wish those staff all the best in their new positions and career paths. I would always say that I am proof myself that leaving PLC doesn’t mean that you will never return, and you never know what the future might hold. We wish you all well.

As always, we have some fantastic new staff joining us in Term 1, and we look forward to welcoming them into our community.

I wish all families all the best for a relaxing holiday break. It has been a very busy and another quite disrupted year and I hope that the holiday break brings with it an opportunity to spend time with family and friends. I look forward to seeing everyone back at school in 2023.

    Cate Begbie
    Principal

From the Head of Senior School

    Merry Christmas

We wish all our students and their families a safe and relaxing Christmas break. To get us in the Christmas spirit, today we celebrated the end of the school year with a fun Christmas Assembly. Thank you to all our performers and to Mrs Bailey and the Year 9s for organising the event.

    Earring Reminder

As often happens during the summer holidays, students may want to pierce their ears, however, please remember that in order to keep a neat and tidy appearance that showcases the school at its best, we ask that they follow our guidelines for uniform. For earrings, students may choose to wear one small sleeper or small plain (not stones) round gold, silver or pearl stud in the bottom of the lobe of each ear. Sleepers should be no larger than 12mm in diameter and studs no larger than 5mm in diameter. Of course, we won’t be going to the extremes of measuring earrings at the school, and really just ask your daughter to use her common sense to ensure she is looking her best and ready to learn in 2023.

    Rev Nalin's Reflections

    Chaplain’s Christmas Reflections

I was delightfully surprised recently when I received a phone call from a friend I had not seen in over 40 years, now a resident in the US, on a visit to Perth to meet up with friends. Having lost contact a long time ago, it was a delightful and somewhat strange experience recounting the different directions our lives had taken us; reflecting on the significant milestones in our respective careers, and quite naturally discussing the blessings our children and grandchildren have brought to us.

    Speech Night Reminder

Today we will finish our celebrations with Speech Night tonight.

Students who are performing, prize winners, and Year 12 students have allocated seating. All other students will be seated in their House Tutor Group accompanied by their House Tutor. Attendance is compulsory and the House Tutor Group roll will be taken. Formal Summer Uniform must be worn by all students. This includes a tie, blazer, and ribbons for hair; students are not required to wear their panama.

It is always an amazing showcase of the many talents of our students and I look forward to seeing you all there as we farewell the Class of 2022.

    Live Stream Speech Night

For anyone unable to attend Speech Night tonight, we are pleased to offer a Live Stream service commencing at 6.00 pm AWST tonight.

    Live Stream Speech Night

    Early Finish Today

Please be reminded that school will finish on Thursday 8 December at 1.00 pm.

As this is outside of normal hours, the traffic warden will not be attending the Stirling Highway crosswalk at this time, however, PLC staff will help direct students across the road. As staff are not able to stop traffic, your assistance, where possible, with stopping to allow them to cross would be greatly appreciated. We wish everyone a safe and enjoyable Christmas break.

    First Day Back in 2023

On Monday 30 January all current students will begin the year by attending House Tutor Group followed by a Senior School Assembly.

For our new students in Years 8 to 12, you will be met by your buddies at either the McNeil Street or View Street Reception areas.

All Year 7 students will meet directly at the Hugh Baird Sports Centre with their bags. Your Pastoral and Academic Care Co-ordinator will contact each cohort before the school year begins with more details to make sure that each student is ready for an amazing 2023. Information, including important dates, relating to each year group will be sent to all parents in mid-January.
