Ready, Check GO! session for local government

Our first Ready, Check GO! session for 2025 is being held on 25 February and is focusing on local government.  This free online session will provide in depth information about the WWC Check and how to determine which roles within a local government setting do and don't require a Check.

If you manage WWC Checks at a local recreation centre or library or organise community events then this session is for you.  Registration is via our Eventbrite page which you can 'follow' to be notified of other events as they are posted.

Focus on contractors

As mentioned in our last newsletter the WWC Screening Unit is targeting those organisations and sectors where we are receiving WWC Check applications from individuals who are not in child-related work.

Our latest focus is on contractors specifically in education and child care settings.  We have developed a bulletin which was recently disseminated to key stakeholders.

The main message is that complying with the Working with Children (Screening) Act 2004 does not mean that contractors require a WWC Check.  In fact, those that are not in child-related work are actually ineligible to apply for a Check.

WWC working with you

Did you know that the Community Engagement team not only deliver general information sessions but can work with you to develop a customised session for your organisation or sector?

We are also able to attend conferences, seminars and expos either as a stall holder or to present about WWC Checks.

You can find out more about the role of the WWC Screening Unit on our website and if you are interested in enlisting our help you can reach us via email.

What's New

If you have recently applied for a WWC Check or renewed your Card you will notice that it has a new look.

Along with the new design is an improved name format so that given name and surname are now listed individually.

This means that longer names (up to 35 characters each for given name and surname) will now display in full on the WWC Card.
