It's Orientation Season!

Last month we welcomed our new residents to their training programs; this month we welcome the new learners to our five undergraduate programs: Dentistry, Dental Hygiene, Medicine, Medical Laboratory Science and Radiation Therapy.

I remember the excitement, blended with some fear and anxiety, of starting my MD Program in 1995, and residency in pediatrics in 1999, both here at the University of Alberta.  I also remember the warm welcome and calm reassurance offered by the teachers, staff and education leadership.  Now, more than ever, we need to offer that reassurance to our new learners, and to let them know that even though the pandemic has changed how we get to our education destination, we will still lead and support them to achieve their professional goals.

I look forward to working together with our education colleagues to provide a safe and high quality experience for our learners as we move into this new academic year.

Mia Lang, MD, PhD
Co-Vice Dean, Education

Online Reading Lists from the Library in eClass

For Fall 2020, the library is unable to open reserve rooms or provide short-term physical textbook loans. But don’t fret! They have a new online reading list service that integrates with eClass so students will have easy online access to the materials they need.

Sign up for TalisAspire on our website and find training materials. When in doubt, contact coursemat@ualberta.ca or your subject librarian.

How easy is it? Check out our introduction video playlist on YouTube.
