Parent Meetings

Please use this link -https://thesource.school21.org.uk/Parents/Booking/Code?Length=7 to book your parent meeting slot. You will need your child's unique 4 digit code which you used last term. If you need to get this again, please ask your class teacher. Remember to keep this safe as you will need it every term!

Bookings will close at 12pm on the day of the meetings so teachers can prepare books ready for the evening, so please make sure you book before this time.

Please use Ms Silver for Mandela and Ms Enabulele for Edison, even though currently they have their placement teachers.

Reminder

Please do not allow your child to bring toys or games to school, as this can lead to items being lost or damaged and students getting upset.

Mrs Drummond's Challenge

Thank you to everyone who did the challenge last week! Please see the photo of an example of how it was solved!

This week is a real challenge!! You might need the whole family to help! Please remember to bring me your answers on Monday morning

Lunch Monitors

This week all classes voted for a representative from their class to become a lunch monitor. This is someone who is a role model to us all in the lunch hall and who can help us make good choices. They always use their manners and make sure they leave the hall tidy. Each lunch monitor was presented with a special badge in assembly on Monday and will be our lunch monitor for the whole Spring term. There will be new elections for Summer, so we will be watching for some more great role models at lunchtime!

Dear Parents/Carers,

Thank you to those who have registered with the Easy Fundraising platform, the donations have already started to come in!

For those who haven’t, this platform allows us to turn everyday online shopping into donations for the school which can then be spent on equipment and facilities. If you haven’t registered yet and are happy to help (at no cost to you!), we ask that you do two things:

1. Sign up to Easy Fundraising and register School 21 as your cause of choice here: https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/invite/GO6EW2/
(We get a £5 donation for every person that signs up via that link!).

2. Install the donation reminder on your computer: https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/donation-reminder/
This is a totally unobtrusive button that sits on your internet bar, and pops up with a subtle reminder every time you shop with a retailer that donates to us.

Finally, please share with any family and friends.

Thanks so much

All at School 21

Spare Clothes

If your child has borrowed any clothes from our spare clothes box please bring them back as soon as possible as we have very little left. (eg if they have wet themselves)

If you have any trousers, skirts or tights that you could donate that would be wonderful.

Also if you would like to donate new children’s underwear that would be amazing.

Cool counting on and back

This week in Reception we have been practising our addition and subtraction by counting on and back. We have been using our garden to help us, by travelling on the ‘bus’ each day and counting the passengers who get on or off. We have also learned how to use different resources, such as cubes and bead strings to support us and started to record our findings.

Thank you to everyone who came to the Reading workshop on Tuesday. If you were not able to attend, please see Miss Ingram to get the handouts from the session.

We would also like to draw your attention to an exciting Space event happening in West Ham park next week. Please see the flyer below for more information or go to the Friends Of West Ham Park website.

Year 1: No Pens, No Worries!

This week we participated in ‘No Pens Day’. It was so much fun to spend the day talking and explaining our ideas! We have been talking a lot about road safety and had a structured debate about traffic lights. We made some really great arguments and had a panel of judges who decided the winning team!

Debugging Code

Year 3 have continued our coding project with great enthusiasm! We have been learning how to debug our code to make sure that our quizzes on UK politics are working properly. Using paper copies of algorithms from Scratch, we built questions and tested each other to find our  mistakes.

In her shoes

Over the past two weeks year four have been looking in detail at the start of our core text, 'Unspoken'. This picture book depicts a situation of an escaped slave hiding on a farm that a little girl's family owns. To support our exploration of the images we have been putting ourselves in the girl's shoes, trying to show empathy in exploring her thoughts and feelings towards what is going on in her country.

We have continued to discuss and write about the various choices the character faces, including using our drama skills to act them out on no pens day!

Excellence Certificate Winners

Well done to all the students who have gone above and beyond this week making Ebo very proud! Congratulations to Taylor, Ava, Olawale, Bishshoy, Sarah, Jerry, Aziz, Sara, Zaydan, Zara, Ishraq, Sofia, Ammarah, Iyannah, Khadijah.
