A reminder that registration is open for the Centre for Healthy Communities 2023 Innovation Forum. This virtual event is hosted in partnership with Alberta Health Services, the Alberta Real Estate Foundation, the Canadian Cancer Society, and the National Collaborating Centre for Healthy Public Policy. 

This year's Forum will focus on the topic of community safety and wellbeing policies in Alberta's communities (preliminary program is available). Plan to engage with practice, policy, industry, and research leaders from across Alberta to share ideas for building a sustainable, healthy future for our communities.

New Resource: Social Cohesion Resource for Building
Healthy Communities

Social cohesion refers to the level of trust and connectedness within a community. Living within a socially cohesive community has been associated with a wide range of positive health outcomes for its members. As such, enhancing community social cohesion has the potential to be a promising avenue for health promotion efforts.

To inspire action within the community, the Centre for Healthy Communities’ (CHC) Social Cohesion Working Group collaborated with the CHC’s Health Equity Research Thematic Area to create a comprehensive Social Cohesion Resource for Building Healthy Communities. This resource details the health benefits associated with social cohesion while also offering numerous strategies for strengthening community cohesion. To learn more about the strategies included in the social cohesion resource and to explore real-world stories from communities in Alberta that exemplify the proposed actions, check out the Social Cohesion Resource for Building Healthy Communities and its Companion Document.
