From free training to build inclusive practice and pathways into childcare, to family-friendly local events and a special expo supporting grandparents, there’s plenty happening in our community. Community storiesAll In for National Reconciliation Week 2026 National Reconciliation Week (27 May to 3 June) is a time for all Australians to learn about our shared histories, cultures and achievements, and to reflect on how we can all contribute to reconciliation. This year’s theme, All In, is a call for everyone to commit wholeheartedly to reconciliation every single day. Logan's going All In for Reconciliation Logan’s community is coming together this National Reconciliation Week for the All In Logan Reconciliation Event. Led in partnership with Logan Elders, YFS and local organisations, this free event celebrates culture, connection and shared learning. With a strong focus on youth leadership and intergenerational connection, the day will feature cultural activities, community stalls, food and opportunities to connect with local services. Opportunities and resourcesQueensland Community Sector Survey Have your say and help shape the future of Queensland’s community sector. QCOSS is calling on workers to share their insights on the challenges facing the sector, including cost-of-living pressures and housing stress. Your input will help build the evidence needed to advocate for better funding, resources and recognition for vital community services that support people across the state.
Belong Training with Brook RED Build your confidence in creating safe and affirming spaces with Brook RED’s Belong LGBTQIA+ Training. Delivered by lived experience peer workers, this free session supports people working with or alongside LGBTQIA+ communities. Topics include gender, pronouns, orientation, intersex inclusion, health outcomes and practical ways to create inclusive, respectful environments in your organisation or service. Online sessions are also available in June 2026. When: Friday 29 May 2026 (9:30 am - 3:00 pm)
Start your career in childcare Kickstart a rewarding career working with young children with this nationally accredited Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care (CHC30121). Delivered through Skilling Queenslanders for Work, this course offers one day per week of training at Kingston East Neighbourhood Group (KENG), plus 160 hours of practical placement. Eligible participants can access this training at no cost. A Blue Card is required. When: Commencing 2 June 2026
Community eventsFlagstone drive-in movie 🎥 Enjoy a relaxed, family-friendly night under the stars with a drive-in movie in Flagstone. Pack the car or bring a blanket and chairs and settle in for a classic outdoor movie experience with friends, family and neighbours. With two live-action films showing and plenty of local food vendors on site, it’s set to be a fun and welcoming night for all ages. When: Saturday 23 May 2026, gates open at 4:30 pm (movie starts at 5:30 pm)
Flagstone Sunday Live Slow down and soak up a laid-back Sunday afternoon at Flagstone Sunday Live in the Park. Enjoy live music, great food and good company in a welcoming outdoor setting. Bring a blanket or chair, gather with friends, family or neighbours, and unwind to easy listening tunes. It’s the perfect way to wrap up the weekend, with warm community spirit. When: Sunday 24 May 2026, 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm
Grandparents Expo 2026 Grandparents and grandparent figures are invited to a welcoming community expo designed to support those caring for children. This relaxed event at Unity Hub features practical information, local support services and inspiring speakers. Enjoy a buffet lunch while connecting with others, learning new tips and feeling valued in your important role. RSVP by 26 May to secure your place. When: Tuesday 2 June 2026, 10:00 am to 1:00 pm
Funding opportunitiesLooking for funding to support your next project or idea? The opportunities below may be of interest. For even more grants and useful resources to support your work, visit and bookmark Council’s Other funding opportunities webpage, which is updated regularly. Applications are now open for the Community Action for a Multicultural Society (CAMS) Program 2027-2031, supporting community organisations, councils and service providers to deliver local projects that improve social and economic inclusion for people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. Grants of up to $172,000 per year are available to support initiatives that build skills, strengthen partnerships and expand community participation. Applications close: 11:59 pm 9 June 2026 Applications are now open for the Pace Farm Community Grants Program, providing funding of up to $5,000 to support community groups delivering positive, lasting change. Open to charities, schools, sporting clubs and community organisations across Australia, the grants fund practical projects such as facility upgrades, community programs and local initiatives that improve wellbeing and inclusion. Applications close: 30 June 2026 EOI applications are now open for Coopers Foundation grants, including the Sustainable Giving Grant and General Giving Grant. The Sustainable Giving Grant offers up to $150,000 over three years for organisations delivering meaningful, long-term community impact, while the General Giving Grant provides flexible, one-off funding of up to $50,000 for projects responding to immediate or emerging needs.
