Welcome to this fortnight's edition of Connecting Our Community! May is here and it’s a wonderful month to celebrate our community. With Neighbourhood Centre Week (11-17 May), followed by National Volunteer Week (18-24 May), we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to Logan’s community and neighbourhood centres and their incredible staff, and recognise the vital contribution of all volunteers across our city. Your care, commitment and hard work are truly inspiring and deeply appreciated. This edition celebrates connection and care across Logan, with a strong focus on emergency preparedness and resilience. You’ll also find events, programs and practical resources to help you get involved, feel supported and stay connected. Do you have a program, local event or good news story you'd like to share? Submit your content and help celebrate the people, places and ideas shaping our community. Community StoriesNeighbourhood Centre Week Neighbourhood Centre Week 2026 takes place from 11-17 May, and this year’s theme is ‘Your Place to Connect’. Neighbourhood Centres Queensland recently released a short video sharing real stories from communities about what neighbourhood centres are and why they matter. The video even features some familiar faces from centres here in Logan — a great reminder of the important role they play locally. You can watch the video here. Residents are encouraged to connect with their local centre, learn more about what they do, say thank you and celebrate the incredible people who support our communities every day.
