The LCN role is an established role at Lymphoma Australia, with nurses around Australia in these positions. The LCN role is essential to delivering high quality, consistent and up to date information, support and supportive care initiatives to patients, families and carers whilst also providing education to lymphoma nurses across Australia. However, it is pleasing to report that the following therapies have been recommended by the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee at their July meeting for listing on the PBS. The inclusion of these treatments as a potential therapy for eligible subtypes could make a significant difference in outcomes for some patients Whilst this does not mean we have patient access (yet) it is a big step forward. 💚 ADCETRIS® (brentuximab vedotin) in combination with doxorubicin, vinblastine and dacarbazine (A+AVD) for the first-line treatment of advanced (Stage III/IV) Hodgkin lymphoma 💚Acalabrutinib (in combination with bendamustine and rituximab, ABR) for the first line treatment of Stage III or IV MCL in patients who are ineligible for stem cell transplantation 💚 Glofitamab (in combination with gemcitabine and oxaliplatin (Glofit-GemOx), for the treatment of patients with RR DLBCL who have received one or more lines of systemic therapy and are unable to receive autologous stem cell transplant (ASCT) or chimeric antigen receptor T-cell (CAR-T) cell therapy. ![]() We invite you to check out our upcoming free education events and webinars. We were joined by nurses and pharmacists from Cairns and surrounding hospitals. ![]() ![]() Western NSWLHD Haematology & Transfusion Conference Our Lymphoma Care Nurses Liz and Kim recently attended the fourth Western NSWLHD Haematology and Transfusion Conference that was held in Orange, NSW. This experience gave Liz and Kim the opportunity to connect with nurses, doctors and health professionals from regional and rural NSW to share their knowledge on transfusions, blood and what services are available to patients. We'd like to thank Karen for organising a fantastic conference, and allowing Kim and Liz to present to attendees. Lymphoma Australia continues to encourage and promote nurse education through online webinars, education sessions and nurse education modules. Our modules have up-to-date information on lymphoma and its treatments presented by world-class specialists working in the lymphoma space. These modules are self-directed and online, to suit the busy schedules of nurses all around Australia, allowing them to develop their lymphoma knowledge and provide specialist education to their lymphoma patients. ![]() Kirsty WyerLymphoma Care Nurse (North Queensland)![]() Kirsty joined the Lymphoma Australia team as one of our Lymphoma Care Nurses in 2025. Her nursing career spans over 30 years, having worked many of those in fast-paced Emergency Departments, before moving into the Haematology setting 8 years ago. Up until 2024, Kirsty worked at the Prince of Wales Hospital in Sydney and has recently moved interstate to North Queensland. Alongside her current role with Lymphoma Australia, Kirsty works part-time in the clinical setting within the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service. Kirsty is dedicated to providing patient-centred care, education and advice to those who are affected by lymphoma to ensure that they feel connected, well informed, and supported. ![]() Go LIME 2025: Nurses Making a Difference!
