Kimbe Assistance ProjectIn celebration of Library Lovers Day, we are seeking donations of brand-new books for primary school aged students and preschool children.
Your generous donations will be supporting the Kimbe Assistance Project. The project sends books and school supplies to people in Kimbe Papua New Guinea. Since 2010, more than 8,500 boxes of books, school furniture and equipment, tables; wheelchairs; walking frames and other hospital equipment and aids have been donated. The Project has also installed solar powered lighting at two remote health clinics and donated ten additional portable solar lighting kits. Donations can be dropped off at any one of our libraries between:
Wednesday 1 February – Friday 17 February 2023. Unfortunately no second-hand items will be accepted.
Blind Date With A BookThis Library Lovers Day, take a chance on something new with a blind date with a book. You never quite know what kind of world you'll end up in but you might end up finding a fascinating story or new author to explore that you'd otherwise have overlooked. Look out for displays across our libraries where you'll be able to pick out a book, without seeing the cover first. Don't worry, we will put
a teaser on each one so you won't be flying completely blind.
