Weekly update 19 January 2026

Welcome to our weekly update report. We want to keep you informed of our work and answer your questions. We'll include lodgement queue processing times and volumes.
Emails to Target Evaluation inboxes
Please ensure that any emails sent to our mailboxes clearly state what you are requesting. There have been some issues recently where we have been unable to understand what is being asked of us.
For example, if port holds need removing, then please state “Port holds at “name of port” need removing” - rather than “please clear as per BACC”.
Also, if port holds have not come off as expected and it is outside our normal office/phone hours, you can email manifest@mpi.govt.nz at any time. This email is monitored 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Sea freight queue
For this week, sea freight lodgement turnaround is estimated at 2 days.
On Monday 19th January, morning, the total sea freight queue (includes Australian lodgements) stood at 535 lodgements and TET were processing lodgements due Monday at 3:31pm.
Last week: average turnaround of sea freight lodgement for first submissions was 11:54 hrs (previous week 9:47hrs) and for second submissions 1:46 hrs (previous week 1:06 hrs).
Airfreight queue
For the coming week, air freight lodgement turnaround is estimated 2 hours
On Monday 19th January, morning, there were 0 airfreight lodgements in the queue.
Last week: average turnaround of air freight lodgement for first submissions was 0:26 hrs (previous week 0:21 hrs) and for second submissions 0:30hrs (previous week 0:17 hrs).
Australia queue
On Monday 19th January, morning, there were 68 Australian specific lodgements, the team is processing consignments due back Monday at 4:19pm.
Last week:
Average turnaround of air freight lodgement for first submissions was 0:28hrs (previous week 0:21hrs) and for second submissions 0:13hrs (previous week (0:14hrs).
Average turnaround of sea freight lodgement for first submissions was 8:39hrs (previous week 7:30hrs) and for second submissions was 1:40hrs (previous week 1:03hrs).
