November at your local library

Have you been to a free event at your local library lately? Check out what is going on at the library this month, we have lots of events for people of all ages to enjoy.

If you haven't signed up for the 1000 Books Before School now is the time. Joining is free and its a great way to encourage reading with your little ones. Nulara is seen above, she and her sister Nuthara completed the challenge this month.

The Sid the Sloth Membership Competition continues until 16 December with more than 6000 new members signing up since it began in April 2022. If your child does not have their own library card yet then drop into your local library and ask about it. Each child gets a Special Edition Sid the Sloth Library Bag and Library Card to encourage their enjoyment of reading.

This weather has been incredible for growing food (and weeds - annoying!) at home. Every library now has a Seed Library where you can get seeds for FREE and start your very own veggie patch at home.

See you at the library!

Local History Donations Wanted

We've been running a donation drive in October to collect the history of Casey and Cardinia for our local history archive, and the results have been incredible.

Lots of photos, books and maps have been donated by our wonderful community - thank you for your fantastic support. These items tell a story of different places and people, revealing what life was like in Casey and Cardinia in times gone by.

Donated items will now go into the local history archive and will be available for access to other community members. You can access these by making an appointment with the local history librarians below.

As October ends, we want you all to know that you can offer donations to the archive year-round.

If you have books, pamphlets, photos or any other records of Casey or Cardinia and its people and places contact us today.

Temporary pause on access to Public Libraries Victoria Network resources (Intralibrary and Interlibrary loans)

Casey Cardinia Libraries (CCL) is part of the Public Libraries Victoria shared collections and services.

The current courier service used by Public Libraries Victoria to transport resources between libraries around Victoria is at the end of its contract and a new state-wide courier service needs to be found.

From Monday 17 October until further notice there will be no new Intralibrary loans available, whilst there is a new courier service appointed.

During this time interlibrary loans will also be temporarily unavailable. These are the items that are held in libraries outside of the Libraries Victoria Network and not found via our catalogue.

Casey Cardinia Library and Myli Members will continue to share resources through this period. You can continue to place holds from both services to collect from your CCL or Myli library of choice.

We will provide regular updates and further information as it becomes available to us.

Choice Online

With the cost of living putting pressure on households, it's more important than ever that we get the best deals possible. When purchasing new appliances, changing our utility providers or buying groceries we need to make good choices.

Choice is the magazine of the Australian Consumers Association. Choice online is the searchable, digital home of Choice magazine, with the current issue immediately available and with access to back issues dating to 2015.

Choice online offers reviews of the best home appliances, services and other domestic goods, from fridges to dishwashing liquids, solar panels to peanut butter and everything in between.

Reviews are based on testing and surprisingly, the most expensive is not always the best, so it need not cost a fortune and is well worth a look.

Choice Online is FREE to access with your library card so make the most of this research tool.
