Greetings from the Dean’s Office!

As we weather this unique historical moment, it is perhaps important more than ever to stay connected to one another. For this reason, We are Wilkinson prefers the term “physical distancing” rather than “social distancing” to describe how to best stay safe at home. This issue of our monthly newsletter has some wonderful stories to share that once again demonstrate the wide-ranging achievements of our students and faculty, and how the arts, humanities, and social sciences help us understand and impact our world.

If you would like to share a story for an upcoming newsletter,
please contact wilkinsoncollege@chapman.edu.

Commencement 2020 Update

Message from the Office of the President Daniele C. Struppa

"Commencement is a monumental event that represents the culmination of significant academic and personal achievement for Chapman students. Given its significance, we consulted with our deans, faculty, administration, and, more importantly, our graduating seniors and families. We needed the Chapman community involved in the decision in how we should proceed with Commencement in light of the global situation involving Coronavirus. We received an overwhelming response, hearing from more than 1,000 graduating students, and speaking directly with over 60 parents.

It is with this feedback in mind that the Chapman senior leadership has decided to postpone the 2020 Commencement. We are targeting a date in late summer but will have to monitor the progress of Coronavirus before a final decision is made. We believe Commencement is more important than ever and are committed to providing this milestone event for our graduating students and their families.

Our goal is to provide the full Commencement experience our graduates have earned. We will continue to update the Commencement website as we finalize details."
