Ready, Set, Discover!We're back for another round of the Great Southern Bioblitz! For the last six years, Logan has joined regions across the Southern Hemisphere in this global nature challenge - and we’re ready to go again! In 2024, 58 people explored our local environment and made 430 observations, recording an impressive 290 different species. This year, let’s go bigger and even more biodiverse! Between 24–27 October, head outdoors and help us create a living snapshot of Logan’s incredible natural world.

Fly into fun at Batty HalloweenCelebrate International Bat Week with some bat-tastic family fun at Batty Halloween in the Park! ‘Fly on down’ to Noyer Park on Saturday 25 October to discover our amazing night-time pollinators with Bats QLD. Meet a flying-fox, enjoy crafty bat-tivities and watch them take flight at sunset - plus grab a free sausage sizzle. It’s a fang-tastic way for all ages to dress up and enjoy Halloween thrills!
Eyes on the sky for annual bird countConnect with nature and discover the birds around you during the Aussie Bird Count, running from 20 - 26 October. Spend just 20 minutes in your backyard, local park, or favourite outdoor spot counting birds. With the current strategy ending, Council is creating a new Community Engagement Strategic Plan - and your voice matters. Share your ideas and help guide inclusive decision-making for Logan. Park after Dark: Spotlighting - 24 October Explore Logan’s natural environment in a whole new light. Join us for a guided night-time adventure and discover the fascinating flora and fauna that comes alive after dark. Bookings required.
Bushland Biodiversity Walk - 26 October Join us for a springtime adventure that blends nature exploration with the excitement of citizen science! Wander Logan’s bushland trails with experts on a biodiversity hunt for local flora and fauna. Bookings required.
Recall and Leave It Training - 1 November Get your fur baby wildlife certified at this free, hands-on training session at Mundoolun. Local trainers will help you and your dog learn the skills of recall and leave it. Bookings required.
Wildlife Friendly Backyards - 1 November Whether you have a bush block with lots of trees, an urban backyard with shrubs and a pool or even a balcony with visiting birds, this event will help you create wildlife-friendly spaces on your property. Bookings required. GROW ME INSTEADHelp protect local native ecosystems by removing weeds from your backyard and replacing them with native plants. FREE TREES Property owners in Logan can take advantage of our Free Trees program. Bring a copy of your current rates notice to one of the collection locations and choose from a wide range of plants. Each financial year you can take 3 plants home for your garden. 11 October, 9.00am to 12.00pm: Eagleby Wetlands KERBSIDE CLEAN-UP Kerbside clean-up helps residents dispose of large household items.
