Dear Residents, I am delighted to announce Council will establish a Wellbeing Advisory Committee to provide guidance on quality of life issues within our local government area. If you would like to learn more about the application process and being a part of this Committee we welcome you to attend an informative morning tea at Strathfield Library and Information Hub on Monday 27 October at 10:30AM. For more information, please visit our website. As you might have heard on the news, an elderly resident was attacked in front of her grand child on their way back home from a local park. Violence of this nature has no place in any community and was distressing news to all. On behalf of Council, I’d like to thank Auburn Police Area Command for their swift response to help keep our community safe by charging the alleged attacker so promptly. If you need to contact me or have any questions, please do so by emailing me cr.bcai@strathfield.nsw.gov.au or ring our office on 9748 9999.

Courtesy Strathfield Local Studies Mayor Thomas Dalton, Homebush Council In 1927, the Mayor of Homebush, Alderman Thomas Dalton, was recognised for his contribution to the Hospital Welcome Wave Campaign. This widespread patriotic endeavour involved the selling of paper flags to welcome the Duke and Duchess of York (parents of the late Queen Elizabeth II) to Australia. Two different flags were sold – the Union Jack and the Australian Flag, each featuring portraits of the couple – to be displayed in the windows of shops and houses. The proceeds of the flags went to supplement the funds of various public hospitals. Alderman Thomas Dalton served three terms between 1906 and 1928.
