13th May 2022A Message from the Head... Prizegiving - Friday 1st July 2022 - Guest SpeakerThere was excitement this week as I wrote to parents with children in year groups eligible to attend our annual Prizegiving ceremony, to share the news with them that our Guest Speaker this year will be none other than Mr Kriss Akabusi MBE, the Olympic sprint and hurdling track and field athlete! Competing in multiple Olympic and Commonwealth Games as well as European and World Championships, Kriss became a household name in the 80s and 90s winning a host of medals for Team GB. Since retiring from competition, he has become a sports commentator as well as a motivational speaker. His story is an interesting one and I hope that those who join us on Friday 1st July will enjoy listening to him and meeting him over drinks and a picnic lunch! Lower 3 in London!![]() Lower 3 returned from their 3-day residential to London a little later than expected this evening. Travel issues dogged them on the way out with their original train being cancelled and then signalling problems delayed their arrival back into Leeds today! However, I hear that they had a wonderful time enjoying the sights and shops and managed to squeeze in 2 trips to the theatre, a visit to Green park, an open top bus ride and a river cruise. We can’t wait to hear all about it next week! ![]() It was an emotional end to the week with Upper 5 entertaining us in assembly this morning, on this, their last day in High School! They shared first day at school photos with us and it was surprising to see just how many of them haven't changed one little bit! Click here to view their slideshow of photos. This assembly followed a flash mob in the dining room yesterday which can be viewed here - I'm not so sure that Mr Lenihan will be all that pleased with the quality of their singing mind you, but their enthusiasm certainly can't be knocked! And they rounded it all off with a special lunch this afternoon and lots of traditional shirt signing - although this year they took this to a whole new level with their own names emblazoned on their backs in various shades of glitter and colourful ink! You can read more about all of this in the High School news articles section by clicking the relevant button at the bottom of this edition of the newsletter. All that remains now is for me to wish them all the very best for their GCSE examinations over the coming weeks.... The Upper 5 class of '22 will certainly live long in all of our memories! Next week, our first public examination season since May 2019 truly gets underway and most of the Prep School will enjoy the delights of Peat Rigg! I look forward to telling you all about it next week! - Dr Tracy Johnson - Stagecoach summer camps at Gateways ![]() Join us in Summer 2022 for a brilliant week exploring the Performing Arts.
