Meet the Gr33ks!

On Wednesday last week, Year 3 started the year off with an incredible Ancient Greece day. In the morning, children experienced many different Ancient Greek crafts such as mosaic making, carving and pottery. In the afternoon, having worked hard and won favour from the gods, they held and theatre festival and banquet. Groups practised and performed Greek plays and dances and feasted on olives, dates, figs, feta and bread.

Light up, Light up!

As part of our project 'How do we see things', this week Year 4 have been investigating how light travels. After first believing that light travels in Zig-Zag lines, some careful investigation proved that light travels in straight lines. The children accurately lined up pieces of card (with holes in the middle) and shone beams of light from a torch (the light source) through the holes and towards a target. They also investigated how light can bounce of reflective surfaces such as mirrors.

Welcome to Planet Earth!

This week has been very exciting for Reception, as we welcomed some surprise visitors! Zog, Wib and Voop are aliens who have crash landed here at School 21 and we are going to find out everything we can about Space to find a way to get them home again!

To be or not to beebot

This week in Year 1 we have been computer programmers. We have learned about algorithms and how they need to be efficient and precise. We explored using the "beebots" and how we different inputs result in different outputs. Our beebots were treasure hunters looking for Blackbeard's lost treasure. Luckily we were able to write algorithms to help the beetbots find the treasure - despite the tricks of his cousin Suspicious Susie!
