Click here ![]() What to do if you re-export wine to the European UnionKia ora, This is an important reminder for those exporting wine to Australia or Great Britain, who also require a VI-1 document to re-export to the European Union (EU). When the implementation of MPI Trade Certification went live in November 2024, the way the VI-1 document is requested, for wine intended for re-export to the EU from Great Britain or Australia, changed from the process that previously existed in Wine e-Cert. If your wine will be re-exported to the EU from Great Britain or Australia, please read the MPI Trade Certification user guide for wine businesses. Please note: you still need to complete the usual steps, such as adding the Winemaking, Packaging and Sensory processes with WSMP confirmations. Completing the usual steps will ensure your wine has general market eligibility for an Export Eligibility Statement (EES). To create a product in MPI Trade Certification: When creating a product... MPI Trade Certification user guide reference 1. Under the General Information section, select the appropriate European Union wine category. Section 5 Create a new product 2. Under the Declaration section, read and select ‘Declare for European Union’, if relevant to your product. Section 6 Declarations and ingredients Section 6.1 Declarations 3. Add the ingredients for bulk and de-alcoholised wine, if required. Note: not all bulk and de-alcoholised wine has this requirement. Under the Processes section, add the Winemaking process. Add the required details and request a winemaker WSMP confirmation. The WSMP confirmer must confirm that the details and declarations provided the wine meets the European Union market requirements. Note: if you then make changes to the product, you may need to request a winemaker WSMP confirmation again.
