Read our Statement on E-bikes in the Fells

We and 18 peer organizations just took action to oppose a rule change allowing e-bikes in the Middlesex Fells Reservation. Please add your voice today.

We’ve recently learned that DCR is on the verge of a regulation change that would allow Class 1 electric bicycles access to all DCR trails currently open to traditional mountain bikes.

Thank You To All Our Earth Week Volunteers!

Last month, in honor of both Earth Day 2021 and the return of group stewardship opportunities in the Fells, the Friends of the Fells hosted a series of volunteer-oriented events throughout the park. 

Between Wednesday April 21st and Sunday April 26th individuals from three clubs and from across the community participated in one of six group events held in the Fells.

Spring has returned to the Fells, and with it the vibrant green we all love!  There is no better way to appreciate the beauty of the season than to learn more about the plant species that contribute to the vibrancy occurring in the forest this month!

Guided Hikes

More Spring Hikes Added to our May Calendar!

The spring guided hike series continues strong this month, with another eight walks exploring nature, birding, history, and geology now added to the calendar!

May highlights include an ecology-focused walk with Professor Colin Orians of  and Julia Osborn, more hikes led by Boot Boutwell, two birdwatching outings, the return of "Rocky Ramblings", two Long Pond walks with Winchester Trails, and more.

The Friends of the Fells is currently accepting applicants for a paid internship opportunity this summer.  

Help us improve and expand the online communications presence of the Friends of the Fells, particularly with video production for our YouTube channel and other social media platforms.

Reminder:  The Friends of the Fells Board of Directors holds a monthly meeting on the second Tuesday of each month.  In response to the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing protocols, these meetings are now conducted virtually. 

The next meeting will be held May 11th at 7pm.
