QLDC Winter Road Report - 19 September 2023
Mōrena Queenstown Lakes,
It's looking like another moody day for the district with a dip in temperatures and some damp roads. Please drive carefully and be mindful of the changing conditions especially if you are commuting over the Crown Range.
Here's a summary of conditions to be aware of today:
- Crown Range Road & Cardrona Valley: Wet and dry roads through Cardrona Valley. The Crown Range has taken a dive into the negatives and currently sitting at a road temperature of -6 degrees and air temperature just below freezing. Slow down and watch for icy spots especially at daybreak. Grit truck is patrolling.
- Wānaka area: Mix of damp and dry roads with positive temperatures. Keep a look out for icy patches on SH6 between Wānaka and Makarora.
- Queenstown and Whakatipu Basin: Damp roads with cooler temperatures down to 0 degrees around Queenstown and Arrow Junction.
- Glenorchy: Damp roads and positive temperatures.
- Out of district: Clear skies and dry roads with temperatures sitting around 4 degrees in Lindis Pass.
