Above and Beyond Out and About - April (FINALLY!)

With such a busy and short half term, as well as Ramadan coinciding, the April Above and Beyond Winners have been super patient, eagerly awaiting their chance to go and celebrate their huge recognition for Stepping Up, working In The Zone and always Choosing Kind. A few students were really busy in class or absent so couldn't join us - they will be able to come next week when we catch up May's winners and head to Cafe XIX! Congratulations to Temi, Denisa, IK, Mimi, Alex, Daisy, Smilte and Jordan who enjoyed their hot chocs this week!

Jack Petchey Awards

Two students were honoured this week, receiving Jack Petchey Awards. Malachi in Year 8 and Kwabena in Year 7 both received certificates and pins in recognition of their outstanding achievements around transition and supporting others. They will be invited to a ceremony in the near future - watch this space for futher updates. Thank you to Ms Tutty as well for supporting the students through the application process. Congratulations to Malachi and Kwabena!

Raising money for Cancer Research

Hi, I'm Zain in Year 5 and I am holding a bake sale on Tuesday 18th June to raise money for this incredible charity with the help of Helen; Luke's (year 6) and Eve's (reception) mum.
My Aunty Jo lost her battle with cancer two years ago leaving behind her 8 and 3 year old. We want to beat Cancer and find a cure.
Please bring along any donated cakes (don't forget we're a nut fee school) or your change and a hungry tummy on the day.
I am also running the race for life on July 6th at Victoria Park with my mum and some friends , so, please feel free to join my mini army of runners or bring a picnic and cheer us on. If you'd like to donate or join the run, please follow the link. Any little way you can support us would be great.

Why not sponsor us by donating to Cancer Research UK on the page https://fundraise.cancerresearchuk.org/team/zains-army

If you are working on a community project or would like to celebrate an achievement from outside of school in our newsletter, please get in touch with Ms Kyrk to help organise this.

Summer Fair Update

Coming up on Friday 5th July is our Annual Summer Fair, organised collaboratively with Primary. We would really love to have as many parents involved as possible in preparing, running and tidying up after the event. If you would like to be involved (even if it is just to donate an hour or two of your time!), please email Ms Kyrk (akyrk@school21.org.uk).

We will need help throughout the event which will run from 3:30pm to 6:00pm, and also in the weeks leading up to the event. Some of our wonderful parental community have already kicked off booking rides and stalls, so please get in touch if you would like to join them!

Some of the areas we would love some help with are:

- Planning the event
- Setting up for the event (throughout the day on the 5th July)
- Selling tickets running up to the event
- Packing away and tidying at the end of the event
- Preparing food and drinks
- Visiting / canvassing businesses to collect prizes for the raffles
- Supporting on stalls
- Running games / activities

There is an opportunity as well to run your own stall during the event for a one off stall fee. Please get in touch with Ms Kyrk for further information.

Please note that while all students are welcome to attend the Summer Fair, parents or carers must attend with them, even in Years 7 and 8.

Korean Visitors

Over the next two weeks Middle School will be hosting 12 guest teachers from Korea! The teachers are visiting School 21 to learn about the different aspects that make our school special such as Oracy, Project Based Learning and Coaching. They will be popping in to support and see lessons throughout the week so make sure you're stepping up to welcome them if you're a student and they come to your class!

Recognition last week

Our recognition boards were filled with names again last week. Congratulations and thank you to all who demonstrated working in the zone, choosing kind and stepping up - you make our Middle School community #middlestrong!

The Lunch Menu has changed - please see the changes above.
