Dear Members,
We’ve got a few important updates and some exciting events to share as we head into a busy and vibrant period at EMTC!
Court Lighting
We know many members have noticed ongoing lighting issues on our courts. Please rest assured, we’ve raised this with the City of Stonnington and continue to advocate for upgrades. Unfortunately, with an outdated system and council budget constraints, progress has been slower than we’d hoped. We’ll keep you updated as soon as we have news.
Court Maintenance
We’re delighted to confirm that we have engaged E.T. Richards & Sons, a fourth-generation local business, to perform ongoing court maintenance. Under this new arrangement they’ll now visit every 4–6 weeks to help keep our courts in great condition. Between visits, please help by:
✅ Watering courts fenceline to fenceline before and after play.
✅ Bagging courts fenceline to fenceline after each set, and when you finish.
Your care helps keep our courts in top shape for years to come!
Club Redevelopment Update
Exciting progress! Our redevelopment project is out to tender, and Stage 1 is set to begin in January 2026. Stage 1 includes:
- Improved safety and accessibility at the front of the clubhouse
- New fencing, including along courts 1–6
Plans are available in the clubhouse office for anyone who’d like a closer look.
Melbourne Cup Weekend Success!
On Saturday, we proudly hosted the Futures Tennis Academy Junior Verified Match Play event, featuring 24 young players (ages 8–16) from across Melbourne. Congratulations to Krish, Zoe, Alex, and Louis, who represented EMTC with energy and great sportsmanship! Grouping players by UTR made for some thrilling, closely matched games (many going to tiebreaks!). A big thank you to Neyara for her festive Halloween decorations and to Jake for coordinating the event. With perfect weather and fantastic feedback from visiting families, it was a day that showed off EMTC at its best!
We’re Looking for a New MPIO
We’re seeking a volunteer to take on the role of Member Protection Information Officer (MPIO) for the club. The MPIO helps ensure our club remains safe, fair, and inclusive, by offering confidential guidance to members about their rights, responsibilities, and club conduct.
- MPIOs don’t handle complaints or disputes
- Free training provided through Play by the Rules
- Ongoing support from the committee and Tennis Victoria
If you’re a good listener and care about fairness and inclusion, we’d love to hear from you!
