Up-and-coming Far North Coast Branch Nipper, Jack Keough says he “didn’t want anyone to get hurt” after he bravely fought against a strong tide to rescue two surfers in the Richmond River last Friday.

Vale Peter "Mick" Ellercamp

It is with great sadness that Surf Life Saving NSW learned of the passing of Life Member and surf sports champion Peter "Mick" Ellercamp.

Mick made a truly incredible and long lasting impact on the Surf Life Saving movement, particularly within the surf boat community, and he will be sorely missed.

Surf Life Saving NSW extends our sincere condolences to Mick's family and friends.

Upcoming Grant Opportunity – NSW Office of Sport Surf Club Facility Program

The NSW Office of Sport have confirmed the next round of the Surf Club Facility Program will be opening in the coming months. A Memo is now available to download which will assist clubs interested in applying to compile the required documentation and approvals to lodge an application once open.

A reminder that volunteer patrolling members (Bronze/SRC) of SLSNSW are eligible for the COVID-19 Vaccine. Visit the SLS Members Area to find out more and to download the Letter and Eligibility Declaration Form. Members do not need to be vaccinated to patrol.

Grants & Fundraising

Grant funding is an ideal way to obtain equipment, infrastructure or program funding for your club. In support of SLSCs in NSW, SLSNSW provides a professional grant service at no fee to NSW SLSCs through the Surf Life Saving Foundation’s Grant Seeking Unit (GSU). The GSU is a national grant research and writing support unit for SLS entities across Australia.

Deliver a brand new beach safety show to young children between the ages of 3 and 6. We urge anyone interested to apply but early childhood education experience and knowledge will be highly regarded. Training provided.

Australian Lifeguard Service NSW - Recruitment Now Open!

With over 330 positions available across 90 locations, the ALS is encouraging surf lifesavers to apply as a means of offering local employment, building stronger relationships with clubs and providing opportunities for club members to develop leadership and lifesaving skills as:

  • Lifeguard Supervisors
  • Seasonal Staff
  • Casual Staff.

Returning 2020/21 lifeguards must reapply online with their user number and password. To ensure your application is registered please follow the instructions on the Become a Lifeguard page of the Australian Lifeguard Service NSW website.
