Dear Eagles,

On behalf of the Office of the Dean of Students, I am delighted to warmly welcome our new first-year and transfer students to the Heights and all returning students for what promises to be another invigorating fall semester! I am writing to introduce myself as the Dean of Students and invite you to stop by our office to get to know us and learn how we can be of service to you during your BC journey.

To share a bit about me, I have been in my role as Dean of Students for just over two years, and I live close to campus with my family – you might see me running around the Reservoir or walking around campus with my two small children.

Through my previous roles at BC, I have realized how extraordinary and caring the BC community is. BC has provided me with invaluable opportunities for interpersonal connection, personal growth, and reflection. Therefore, I am extremely invested in cultivating a strong sense of community for students.

Our office, located in Maloney 448, is here to support you throughout your time at BC. Whether you're facing challenges, want to share your experiences, or celebrate your successes, we're here for you. We're eager to get to know you and be a part of your BC journey.

Here are some of the core components that make up our office:

  • Central Hub: We serve as a central point for triaging concerns and addressing issues that impact students, ensuring a coordinated and effective response to their needs.

  • Student Code: We uphold community expectations through a comprehensive conduct process, promoting a respectful and accountable campus environment.

  • Reporting: We handle reports related to students of concern, conduct violations, bias incidents, and accessibility issues, ensuring timely and appropriate responses to each case. Students can submit reports at bc.edu/report.

  • Support and Accommodations: We manage and coordinate disability accommodations and provide various forms of student support, fostering an inclusive and supportive campus environment.

  • Community: We oversee off-campus life and actively build partnerships with the community, enhancing the overall student experience and promoting positive relationships.

Be sure to read about our key policies and expectations for all students and take a look at the opportunities to engage with our regularly updated list of DOS events, build community and connections with others through our Circle Up programs, and stop by the office the last Friday of each month for Deans and Donuts. Our first Deans and Donuts event is tomorrow🎉✨🎈, from 9:00 AM - 11:00 AM, in Maloney Hall 450!

We're also excited to continue "Dinner with the Deans" this year. It's a unique opportunity to join me and other Deans in our office, share a meal from a local hotspot, and learn more about our office. Our first session is open to all interested first-year undergraduate students on the evening of September 18 from 6 PM - 7:30 PM. If you're a first-year student, we encourage you to sign up and join us for this special evening.

I look forward to seeing you in Maloney Hall or around campus!
