August at your local LibraryOur libraries have been bustling which is just how we like it. More than 3000 new members (all kids!) have joined the library as part of the Sid the Sloth Membership Competition. We are thrilled about this and have decided to extend the competition through to the end of December, check out the story below for the details. You, our incredible community donated more than $2800 in goods in
June for the Asylum Seeker Resource Centre, they said "Truly an amazing effort..." and were basically speechless. So a BIG THANK YOU. Quiet Hour kicks off this Friday 29 July at most of our libraries. This will allow those with sensory needs one hour every Friday 9am - 10am. Lights will be dimmed, phones and PC’s turned down, movement reduced and conversations kept low. This is just the start of a bigger program where we support the community who have sensory needs so keep an eye out on our website for updates on this. We can't wait to see you at the library. Share the Dignity Casey Cardinia Libraries is pitching in to assist women and girls experiencing poverty or homelessness by helping to collect personal hygiene products as part of the August Share the Dignity Drive. Share the Dignity is a charity organisation founded by Rochelle Courtenay that seeks to provide the basic essentials for women and girls in crisis by sending the call out for unopened packets of pads, tampons and personal hygiene products to distribute to women nationwide. We are delighted to support this campaign by providing collection points in all of our libraries for donated pads, tampons and personal hygiene products. Just look for the pink collection boxes at your local library.
Online ResourcesYour library card is your FREE ticket to a great range of online resources. From ebooks to family and local history, kids, education, crafts, movies and more. But don't just take our word for it. Here's what some happy members said:
“Particularly appreciate the power of a library card with various apps like borrow box.”
“I really like how I don’t have to go in to the library to get books to read. In this way it makes it more easily accessible for me”
“I love the online access to my library for searching, reserving and downloading digital audiobooks via Borrowbox.”
