Registration deadline approaching for next MPAG meeting

The 26th meeting of the Malaria Policy Advisory Group (MPAG) – WHO’s top-level advisory body for malaria – will be held on 1–3 October 2024. Technical partners, UN agencies, and other members of the global malaria community are welcome to attend the open sessions, provided they register in advance. Registration will close on 30 September.

Meeting report: Malaria Ministerial Conference

Co-hosted by WHO and the Government of Cameroon, the Malaria Ministerial Conference brought together more than 400 stakeholders, including Ministers of Health and senior representatives from the African countries hardest hit by malaria, health leaders, scientists, civil society and other partners. Ministers from 11 high burden African countries signed the Yaoundé Declaration, pledging their “unwavering commitment” to the principle that “no one should die from malaria.”

WHO’s consolidated guidelines for malaria are available through the web-based platform MAGICapp in English, French, Arabic and Spanish. Recommendations and related guidance can also be accessed through a user-friendly mobile app and the WHO website.

Meeting report: Country experiences on subnational verification of malaria elimination 

On 14 March 2024, WHO and PATH co-hosted a virtual roundtable with representatives from several countries (Brazil, China, Indonesia and South Africa) that have implemented or are considering implementing subnational verification of malaria elimination. Participants shared experiences and lessons learned.
