Community ProgramsBEST Basketball LeagueThe BEST Basketball League is the largest all-abilities basketball league in Logan, Queensland, with over 120 players living with a disability competing weekly. The 12-week program addresses reoffending risks, supports education and employment pathways, and builds communication skills. Rolling referrals are accepted for youth aged 10-18 in Logan, Brisbane South, Western Districts, Redlands, and Ipswich. Parental consent required for ages 8-9. It outlines four steps as planning conversations, providing information, resources, and guidance. Each step results in self assessment and actions to ensure people with disability and their support network know how to take action in an emergency. LGBTQIA+ Affirmative Practice Training by Rainbow Affinity #2This workshop will help community groups, small businesses, and organisations provide affirming and culturally safer services for LGBTIQ+ folk. Learn about LGBTIQA+ identities, pronouns, inclusive language, and allyship. It's also for organisations or businesses who might be keen to join up as a Safe Space but want to learn a bit more about what this entails before they commit. When: Monday 25 November, 10am to 12pm Funding OpportunitiesExpressions of Interest are now open for the Rural Economic Development (RED) Grants. Grants are available for up to $200,000 with a 50 per cent cash contribution requirement from applicants to fund projects which provide unique opportunities to generate economic and employment opportunities related to primary production value chains across rural and remote Queensland. Expressions of interest close: 11:59pm Friday 22 November 2024 Applications are now open for MediaCast's "Pro Bono for Purpose" grants. This grant offers NFPs and charities the chance to leverage PR for impactful change. The grants, valued at $5,000 and $10,000, can be used to fund or supplement a media relations campaign and will help organisations amplify their message across various media outlets. Applications close: 29 November 2024 Applications are now open for Round 122 of the Gambling Community Benefit Fund (GCBF). (GCBF) is Queensland’s largest one-off community grants program and distributes approximately $60 million each year to not-for-profit community groups. The GCBF funding helps these groups to provide services, leisure activities and opportunities for Queensland communities. Round 122 offers $35,000 and is the final funding round for 2024. Applications close: 30 November 2024 Applications are now open for the Queensland Gives 2024 - General Fund. The General Fund grant program supports organisational capacity building of mid-tier organisations with projects that strengthen community by focussing on, but not limited to, Youth, Women and Families at Risk. Grants are available up to a maximum of $30,000 per individual grant. Applications close: 13 December 2024 Applications are now open for social enterprises to apply for a Social Enterprise Development Initiative (SEDI) Capability Building Grant of up to $120,000. SEDI aims to support social enterprises to be more efficient and effective. It helps them to deliver social benefits to vulnerable Australians. Applications close: December 2025 Applications are now open for Round 2 of the RACQ Foundation Community Grant Program. Through its Community Grants program, RACQ Foundation gives community groups, charities, sporting clubs and First Nations Councils the opportunity to rebuild after natural disasters and to prepare for the future with resilience-based projects. Applications close: 30 January 2025 Logan City Council Logan City Council acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the lands and waterways across the City of Logan.
