Following the announcement about Aged Care workers' Award wages, some new resources are available. For providers, these include a Wage Rise and Guidance document. The Department will be opening a new grant opportunity for Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP) providers to apply for funding to meet the costs associated with increases in the Fair Work Commission (FWC) award wage. The FWC decision focused on providing wage increases for direct care aged care workers employed under the Aged Care Award, Nurses Award and home care workers under Schedule E of the Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services (SCHADS) Award. Eligibility for the wage increase is determined by which Award the worker is paid under, as opposed to which activity they provide. If you have any queries about what award your staff are under speak with the Fair Work Ombudsman (FWO).
