June 2022The monthly E-News shares provincial program information and updates about the Facility Engagement (FE) Initiative. This information will be of interest to Medical Staff Association (MSA) support teams, so please feel free to forward the newsletter to your MSA executives as needed. FEMS Tip for Entering SEAT DataQ: I close my engagement activities (EAs) in FEMS at the end of each fiscal year (FY) and restart them for the next FY as part of good bookkeeping practice. For SEAT designated EAs, I am prompted to enter Results/Impact of Activity – what should I include for ongoing EAs? A: Results/Impact of Activity is an important field that helps readers understand the value of the EA and what outcomes are possible. It is important to include meaningful information on the results/impact that was achieved during the year, even if the work is being continued into next year. Some examples of Results/Impact of Activity for ongoing EAs are provided below. An alternative option is to change the existing EA’s SEAT toggle from Yes (include in SEAT) to No (do not include in SEAT), and re-enter the information provided from the last year into the next year’s EA. This reduces duplication in the SEAT database, and provides more time to complete the activity, and assess results and impact. “This project is not complete. It will continue in the 20XX/20XX fiscal year.” “An evaluation form was sent to the physician lead to evaluate the activity for the 20XX/20XX fiscal year. Every answer was "Strongly Agree" but the most important part was that the physician lead strongly agreed that the project has facilitated a direct improvement in patient-care services at the Hospital. This project is not complete. It will continue in the 2022/2023 fiscal year. We are closing this out for 2021/2022 for bookkeeping purposes only and will re-post the project.” “Project lead liaised with an outside expert to develop the project, resulting in the development of the XX project and a new process initiated by the Working Group. Each month two departments present issues impacting their department that the group discusses in small breakout groups in an effort to develop ideas, strategies or contacts or resources that may aid in addressing the issue. Potentially, some will result in new activities. This activity will continue in 2022/23 and more results will be presented at a later time.” If you have any questions, please contact seatsupport@doctorsofbc.ca
