The Principal, Council and St Andrew’s College community honour the life of Miss Sienna Weir, who sadly passed away recently after a horse-riding accident at age 23.
Sienna attended St Andrew’s College from 2018-2020 after graduating from SCEGGS Darlinghurst. She pursued a rigorous academic program at school that included 4-unit English,
3-unit Math, Economics and Business Studies. She excelled in those subjects, receiving several Honours in her HSC whilst also pursuing her love of horse riding at a high level.
At Andrew’s, she joined the community as a non-residential student in 2018 before moving on to the campus in 2019. She studied a BA Arts/ Advanced Studies, majoring in Psychology and English at the University of Sydney. Sienna made an effort to go to as many of the Rawson, Rosebowl and Palladian events as possible to support her friends and cheer them on, and volunteered to help host other schools visiting the
College.
She was also a recipient of the Elite Athlete Scholarship at the University of Sydney for equestrian. She had been riding from a young age and was a talented show-jumper, regularly competing in the Australian Championships, Riders Series and Sydney Show Jumping Club Summer Championships.
After College and
university, Sienna developed a successful modelling career. She had been working as an editor for a social worker since leaving College, in addition to competing in the 2022 Miss Universe Australia competition.
In an interview for Miss Universe Australia, Sienna spoke about her love of writing and reading literature, horse-riding, modelling and public speaking. She said, “I believe self-expression and understanding other people’s perspectives and experiences is an integral part of life. I love to represent myself in the best way possible through writing my own poetry, but I also find it fascinating to
find a commonality of experience with people from completely different walks of life. It’s crazy to think how our perspectives on our own life experiences can change so dramatically by simply flipping a page and connecting with a stranger through words.”
Sienna was planning to move to London to work on her modelling career and spend time with her sister, niece, and nephew who are based there.
Sienna is survived by her partner Tom, her parents, Geoff and JoAnna and her sister Sophie. The entire Weir family is held firmly in our thoughts, and our deepest sympathy is extended to all who knew her.
A private service for Sienna will be held on Thursday 18th May at 3pm. Due to the size of the venue, attendance at the service is by invitation only. The service can be viewed on the following livestream link - https://www.FuneralVideo.com.au/SiennaWeir
