2026 Conference Online Passes Available

In-person passes for the conference are sold out, but online conference passes are available for $200 plus tax.

Online passes include both days of the conference. Registrants who attend the Conference will be able to claim a maximum of 14 Continuing Professional Development (CPD) points.

The College’s 2026 Conference is on April 9-10, 2026 at the Hotel Grand Pacific in Victoria, BC on the traditional lands of the of the Songhees Nation and the Xwsepsum (Esquimalt) Nation.

2026 Board election voting underway

Voting in the 2026 Board elections began on April 1. Registrants are electing two Board members.

The College’s Nominations Committee has reviewed all applications, interviewed candidates and checked references, and has qualified four candidates for election to the College Board.

Please view the 2026 elections page if you’d like more information about the Nominations process.

Balloting closes on May 1, 2026 at 2pm PDT. All voting is done through the College registrant portal.

College AGM coming up on May 13

The College's 2026 Annual General Meeting is a separate event from the conference, similar to the 2025 AGM. Registration for the 2026 AGM opens soon.

The meeting will be delivered via Zoom and is to be held on May 13 at 12pm PDT.

The meeting will review the 2025 audited financial statements and annual operational, business and committee reports. Attendance is eligible for CPD hours.

Fungus causing white-nose syndrome in bats detected again in B.C.
From the Government of BC - The fungus responsible for white-nose syndrome in North American bats has been detected in a bat guano (droppings) sample collected in the Metro Vancouver area.

Three recreational fishers fined a combined $11,600 for illegal sea cucumber harvesting
From the Government of Canada - A total of three judgements in Campbell River Provincial Court were issued between November 24, 2025 and January 29, 2026.

Charter vessel operator fined $5,000 for illegal crab fishing activity
From the Government of Canada - On February 17, 2026, in Richmond Provincial Court, a charter fishing operator, was found guilty of the offense of possessing illegally caught fish contrary to Section 33 of the federal Fisheries Act and was fined $5,000.

Government of Canada and Qikiqtani Inuit Association Celebrate New Marine Protected Areas in Nunavut
From the Government of Canada - Iqaluit, Nunavut - On Saturday, March 28, the Government of Canada and the Qikiqtani Inuit Association celebrated the establishment of the Qikiqtait and Sarvarjuaq Marine Protected Areas (MPAs) in Nunavut, bringing Canada one step closer to protecting 30 per cent of the ocean by 2030.

Federal government launches new nature strategy which includes investment in habitat restoration
From the Government of Canada - To protect Canada’s lands and waters, the Prime Minister, Mark Carney, on March 31st, launched A Force of Nature: Canada’s Strategy to Protect Nature. With an investment of $3.8 billion, Canada’s new nature strategy will protect and restore critical habitats, ensure industrial strategies complement our conservation efforts, and mobilise new capital for nature.
