    Water Safety Bodies Issue Australia Day Plea

    Surf lifesavers have joined forces with emergency services including the NSW Police, Ambulance Service, and Marine Rescue NSW to reinforce safety on the coast in the lead-up to the Australia Day long weekend.

    NSW Claims Interstate Title

    A comprehensive team effort along with a powerful culture among the group is being credited for ending a three-year trophy drought for NSW at the 2018 Interstate Championships held at South Australia’s Moana Beach last week.

     

    2018 NSW Board Riding Championships 

    SLSNSW is seeking expressions of interest from Clubs who may be interested in hosting the 2018 NSW Board Riding Championships. 

    The Championships is conducted over three days in September and attracts approximately 300 visitors to the host venue. Successful venues will be chosen from Clubs whose beach meets the venue requirements.

    EOI's must be submitted by 11pm Sunday 15 April, 2018.

    SLSNSW Workers Compensation Form 

    If you have suffered an illness or injury while performing authorised surf lifesaving activities, Workers Compensation may be payable under the Workers Compensation Act.

    Information relating to Workers Compensation can be found on our website. The current and up to date Workers Compensation Claim Form (Nov 2017) can also be downloaded here.

    Please note that Section 3 of the current Workers Compensation Claim Form must be completed by a SLSC Committee Member (e.g. President, Club Captain).

    2018 Training Officer Course

    We’re pleased to announce that subsidised cross-Branch Training Officer courses are again available to all SLSNSW members across the state. Thanks to federal funding, we have been able to subsidise the courses to an even greater degree than last season. During the weekend, participants will gain the skills and knowledge to confidently deliver Surf Life Saving awards to new and existing members.

    • Bomaderry – 24th, 25th March 2018 – places available
    • Ballina – 17th, 18th February 2018

    Please note that the closing date for registration is four weeks before the course start date to allow time for the completion of pre-course work. Download course information here.

    Please promote widely to potential Training Officers within your Club.

    Staminade Ocean Thunder Surf Boat Series - Event 3 Fox Screenings

    The Staminade Ocean Thunder Surf Boat Series Event 3, will be shown on Fox Sports as follows:

    • Thursday 25 January 2018 at 9:30pm - 10:30pm on Fox Sports 507
    • Saturday 27 January 2018 at 3:30pm - 4:30pm on Fox Sports 501

    There will also be a back to back run of episodes 1 & 2  on Monday 5 Feb 2018 at 7:00am - 9:00am on Fox Sports 503.

    The NSW Envirobank Country Surf Life Saving Championships is open to clubs outside the Newcastle-to-Illawarra corridor.

    NSW Surf Life Saving Championships proudly supported by Your Local Club returns to Blacksmiths Beach for 2018.

    Local Sporting Champions

    The Local Sporting Champions program is an Australian Government initiative designed to provide financial assistance for young people aged 12-18 towards the cost of travel, accommodation, uniforms, or equipment when competing, coaching or officiating at an Official National Sporting Organisation (NSO) endorsed State, National or International sporting championships or a School Sport Australia State or National championships.
