Artwoven by Hand:
The Work of Peg McDade

(1937-2025)
on View Through November 30

The Everhart Museum is honored to celebrate the life and legacy of Peg McDade, a master fiber artist, devoted educator, and treasured friend. Born in Scranton, Peg devoted her life to the tactile beauty of weaving, felting, and dyeing, infusing every creation with heart and craftsmanship.

This exhibition pays tribute to her dual legacy: as a maker of vibrant, textured works and as a teacher whose impact endures. Always, as she proudly noted, her art was “woven by hand.”

This exhibition is generously supported by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.

Artwoven by Hand
Opening Reception
Thursday, June 19

The community joined to celebrate the life and legacy of Peg McDade (1937–2025) and the opening of her retrospective exhibition Artwoven by Hand, on view through November 30.

The exhibition and reception reflect a lifetime devoted to making, teaching, and uplifting others through the fiber arts. Peg’s work spans decades and techniques: woven, stitched, embroidered, and always full of care. Her legacy lives on in every piece and in the countless people she inspired.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who helped bring this exhibition to fruition. Special thanks to Debby James, daughter of Peg McDade, for her support and trust in sharing her mother’s legacy, as well as to Pat Atkins, Kimberly Crafton, Kelsey Mitchell, Alex Tomlinson, David Wagner, Dr. Patricia A. Sperling, and the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts.
