Summer At Your Library

Our libraries are here for you right across the warm summer days. There’s nothing quite as good as escaping the heat into the tranquility of the library – we are open right throughout January with free services galore just for you. Check our revised opening hours before you leave home.

If you're on holidays, our Digital library is the perfect resource – free books, movies, podcasts, music and more available on your mobile device.

Fantastic school holiday events start from the second week of January, and don’t forget the Big Summer Read – there are prizes on offer, including an iPad!

Now is the time to Return Yourself To The Library this summer at CCL.

Take Part In Our BIG Summer Read

Have you signed up for our BIG Summer Read program?  There's still time!

There are three simple ways to take part:

  1. Register via our website

  2. Pop in to your local Casey Cardinia library and pick up a playing card

  3. Register via the Beanstack website

Read ten or more books and complete some fun reading activities and be in with the chance of winning some fantastic prizes this summer including an Apple iPad, a $100 Rebel Sports gift card as well as Robinson's Book Store vouchers.

The challenge runs until January 31 2022, all you have to do is join for free, borrow, play and win.

Libraries After Dark at Pakenham Library

If you're looking for something exciting to do on Friday nights, head down to Pakenham Library for a series of fantastic events including:

  • Friday Night Family Film And Games
  • Friday Night Book Group
  • Group Sound Meditation
  • Bad Art Competition and lots more!

Pakenham Library is open until 8pm on Fridays from the 14th January onwards. All our Libraries After Dark events are FREE, but bookings are essential . Discover something new and get the perfect start to your weekend.

Guitar Lessons For Beginners

Join local musician, Jose Garcia at Emerald Library on Saturday 15 January for a beginner's introduction to playing guitar.

Jose has a broad appreciation of music, with a passion for Folk, Country, Bluegrass & Gospel genres and offers guitar tuition to novices or near-novices.

The lessons are focused on the basics to get you started. No bookings required but please bring along your guitar if you have one!

Bullet Journalling Workshop

Learn all about Bullet journalling in this fun, free workshop at our Endeavour Hills library on Tuesday 11 January.

Turn the chaos of everyday life into a coordinated and streamlined system to help you stay on track. Your bullet journal can be simple black ink on paper, or you can use it as a place to let your creativity run wild, add colour and fun.

This workshop will teach you the basics of bullet journalling and help you get started setting one up for yourself.

Magazines Online - FREE With Your Library Card

Summer holidays are for relaxing, reclining on a deck chair or in your favourite spot outside and it is the perfect opportunity to do some leisurely reading.

Your library is on hand to help you relax this holiday season, with thousands of magazines you can read online or download to your device to read at your leisure.  All you need is your library card, a device and the right app.

Press Reader has over 3,500 free magazines from Australia and across the globe. From Who Magazine and Australian House And Garden to GQ ad OK, there's something to appeal to every interest.You not only get the latest issue, but access to a significant back catalogue.  Access it through your browser and if you like, download for offline reading through the Press Reader app.

There's also Libby, which offers over 3,000 magazines covering a wide range of genres.  Borrow each title for two weeks and renew as many times as you like.

Both these resources, and many more can be accessed via our digital library, 24/7.

Christmas and New Year Opening Hours

Our opening hours will differ slightly over Christmas and the New Year, click here to view hours across our libraries over the festive season.

 
 

All libraries will be closed on Wednesday 26 January 2022 for the Australia Day Public Holiday.
