Throwback Thursday Strathfield South Shops, 1937 This photo from 14 July 1937 shows the shops of Strathfield South, looking towards Enfield, along Liverpool Road. The Crossways Hotel is just recognisable on the far right, as are the three shops beyond it, with the Bushells sign on the wall of the ham and beef shop. The shops on the left are no longer standing. In the foreground of the photo is the bakery of E.S. Percival Ltd, advertising wedding and birthday cakes. Beyond, a sign promotes Kinkara tea and coffee on the wall of the grocers’ shop. Across the intersection of Homebush Road is the chemist of Owen Gregan. Looking towards Enfield from near the corner of Liverpool and Homebush Roads, July 1937.
