Cr Matthew Blackmore, Mayor of Strathfield

In recognition of Seniors Week, the Ironbark Gallery is showcasing the talents of our residents who participate in art classes held at the Strathfield School for Seniors, located on the grounds of The Uniting Church, Strathfield. I was delighted to attend the official opening for the latest exhibition, Visions with Variety: Celebrating Seniors last Thursday, to meet our talented residents and see their artwork first hand. The Strathfield School for Seniors is a community of people who come together to socialise and learn new skills every Friday during public school terms. I encourage seniors in our area to swing by to meet new people and take up a new hobby.

Council engaged Asbestos Awareness to bring their education house, Betty to Council today. As a registered participant in the National Asbestos Awareness campaign since 2011, Strathfield Council is proud to provide ongoing support to ensure their life-saving messages are reaching our local community and was awarded a certificate of appreciation.

As always if you need help with any local matter, please contact me anytime 0406 099 048 or cr.mblackmore@strathfield.nsw.gov.au

Seniors Week 2023

The theme of this year's Seniors Week is Livin' Large and that's just what our Strathfield seniors are doing. Activities have included legal advice sessions with Seniors Right Service, a show from Comedy with a Cause and boot-scooting dancing fun catered to all mobilities and abilities in a free dance class. Wrapping up on Friday, there will be a morning movie session of The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, with popcorn served in comfort! We hope you all enjoyed Seniors Week 2023!
