Tip of the Week

Don’t Forget to Set Your Career Resolutions!

Happy New Year!

We hope that you had a wonderful and relaxing break and that you’re excited for the new year ahead.

A new year always brings a fresh slate and the opportunity to reset and focus your time and energy on the things that matter most to you. As you reflect on last year and spend time setting your intention for this new term and the year ahead, we encourage you to set a few professional development/career resolutions.

To help you figure out what your career-focused resolutions might be, questions to ask yourself include:

  • What impact do I want to have on colleagues, clients, and my community?

  • What are my academic goals for the upcoming term?

  • What soft (i.e., transferable) or technical skills do I hope to develop over the next year?

  • How do I want to grow as a professional?

  • What’s most important to me in the work that I do?

  • Why will a company benefit from having me on their team?

  • What are the companies I hope to work for looking for in candidates?

  • What networking or professional development events should I attend?

Use your answers to the above questions to set a couple of career resolutions for yourself for 2023.

Stanley Milner Library Tour with CEA | January 11

Originally intended to be merely a reskin of the 1967 Library, the Stanley Milner Library Revitalization quickly grew to encompass nearly the entire building as the scope of work was better understood. The execution of this design was no small task, but provided significant cost benefit over a full demolition and rebuild estimated at hundreds of millions of dollars.

During this tour we will discuss some of the challenges to the design and construction teams, solutions implemented, and how the building functions to meet the intent of the Owner and Designers.
