Expression of Interest: Support at Home online workshopsThe Department of Health and Aged care want to hear from in-home aged care providers to help refine the new Support at Home program. New Aged Care ActThe Department of Health and Aged Care has released an exposure draft of the new Aged Care Act (new Act) for feedback. For the first time, all CHSP providers will fall under the Aged Care Act. It’s critically important for all CHSP providers to understand the changes, potential impacts and readiness activities. There are different ways you can have your say. You can: • attend one of the consultation workshops • complete the online survey • or email your submission to AgedCareLegislativeReform@health.gov.au You need to submit your feedback by 7 pm AEDT, Friday 16 February 2024. Murray/Mallee Taskforce PodcastInterview with Nick Morgan on reform changes in the CHSP programme Lisa Barrett from the Murray/Mallee Taskforce interviews Nick Morgan, Assistant Secretary from the Support at Home Branch, Department of Health and Aged Care. Nick Morgan talks about the delay in changes to the CHSP, inclusion of the programme in the Act, provider registration, social support categories, single assessment in two different programmes, flexible funding, home modifications, what some of the changes from within the Act will mean for CHSP providers, and much more. Training and EventsProfessional Boundaries for CHSP Staff webinarAn overview of professional boundaries and why they’re so important in our everyday work. We will explore what professional practice looks like and the guidelines and policies that support you. We will also consider when things can go wrong and what to do if a breach of professional boundaries happens. This includes support workers, direct care workers, social support staff and allied health assistants. Capturing stories with your phoneThis 3-hour, in person practical workshop gives you everything you need to start filming interviews with staff or clients and family using your phone or tablet. Video is a great way to share the important work you do. You can use videos to promote your programs to older people, and demonstrate good practice to clients, staff and the Aged Care and Quality Commission. A client experience journey map is all about understanding the pain points and moments that matter along the way from your clients' point of view, and it's then about taking what we learn to improve the client experience, find efficiencies, embed technology, and innovate. This face to face workshop, facilitated by Enkindle, is to help give employees or volunteers a voice within the workplace by unpacking the practical steps involved in developing a Voice of the Employee program. We will help aged care providers who do not have an employee feedback program or are in the early stages of establishing one to understand a framework for gaining actionable insights and feedback from their workforce. Train your direct care workers to create a positive experience with clients through understanding culturally responsive support. The topics covered in this module enable aged care workers to provide culturally responsive support, particularly to consumers who have migrated to Australia as migrants or refugees. Have your say: Home Care Outlook 2024 SurveyEnkindle invite you to participate in the 2024 survey to see where the industry challenges, opportunities and priorities may lie for 2024. The survey results will be available in early 2024 and will provide a voice to our CHSP and Home Care Providers by communicating the key challenges and priorities for 2024. Enkindle will provide you with a copy of the survey report (all responses are anonymous). The survey is a short nine question survey, which will only take 5-10 minutes to complete.
