Welcome aboard our Employment & Training Newsletter! Here's your go-to spot for all the latest on our programs. Right now, we've got two fantastic projects up and running:

1.      Employment Hub:  Employment support for job seekers along their career journeys to find meaningful employment.  Employment Hub offers individualized support for each participant to help them work towards their unique goals and interests. We can support with a wide range of things including, resume, cover letter, interview preparation, workshops, Australian workplace culture, English language and more. Eligible for Australians and immigrants, everyone is welcome.

2.      Training Hub: Train 2 Care is a supportive training free for eligible participants. It is designed to assist participants in successfully completing their courses and entering to the workforce in a variety of fields, such as the Aged Care Industry and Disability Industry.

All our programs are Funded by QLD Government.

Exciting News: Welcoming Aruna Gikar to the Employment and Training Team!

We are thrilled to announce that Aruna Gikar is joining our Employment and Training team this month as our new Program Support Worker. In her new role, Aruna will be supporting jobseekers throughout their employment journey.

Aruna brings a wealth of experience, having worked in HR roles in both India and Papua New Guinea. She recently graduated with a master’s in human resources management from Griffith University, further strengthening her expertise in the field.

Two years ago, Aruna enrolled at our Employment hub while she was studying her masters. For the last six months, she volunteered with MCCGC - Employment and Training. As already being a part of the family and getting along with the team, after considering all the candidates, she was deemed the best fit. 

We’re excited to have Aruna on board and look forward to the valuable contributions she will make to our team and to those we serve.

Diwali Celebrations

On November 7th, our Employment and Training team had the pleasure of joining a wonderful Diwali celebration at our Southport office, organized by CAMS team. The event was a fantastic opportunity for all teams to come together and celebrate the Festival of Lights, embracing the spirit of joy, unity, and cultural diversity.

The celebration included traditional Diwali decorations, delicious food, and a lively atmosphere that truly captured the essence of this special occasion. It was a great way for everyone to connect, share in the festivities, and experience the rich cultural traditions of Diwali.

A heartfelt thank you to CAMS team for making this event such a memorable and enjoyable experience for all of us!

Study QLD: Gold Coast Innovation Challenge                                                                            A Day of Networking and Opportunity

On the 14th of November, the Gold Coast Innovation Challenge brought together international students and local employers for an exciting day of networking, skill-building, and career exploration. The event was a fantastic opportunity for students to meet potential employers, gain insights into the Australian job market, and learn about real work experience opportunities.

Our Employment and Training team, including Camila, Jessy, and Kyzzy, attended the event to network with industry leaders and connect with students sharing our programs. The day featured interactive workshops, employer networking sessions, and discussions on how international students can succeed in Australia’s competitive job market.

A big thank you to Study QLD and all the employers who made the event a success. We look forward to more opportunities to help students thrive in their professional journeys!

NEXT INTAKE IN FEBRUARY 2025

Funding for the Training Hub program has been approved for 2025 by Skilling Queenslander Workforce (SQW) and the Queensland Government. The program offers a free Certificate III in Individual Support to eligible participants. It aims to help participants enter fields like Aged Care and Disability Care Industries. Additionally, it supports those returning to work, improving communication skills, changing careers, or developing career plans.

  • Duration: 20 weeks
  • 2 days a week - Wednesday & Thursday
  • From 2pm to 7pm 
  • 120 unpaid placement hours 
  • Location: MCCGC Southport Office and practical day at Gess Education (Aus Fair)

On average, 80% of participants from each group secure employment after completing their training through the Training Hub program.

MCCGC is Hiring – Casual Cook

Are you passionate about working in a kitchen? Our newly renovated Wellness Centre is seeking a team member to assist with preparing meals for our wonderful elderly clients.  

We are looking for a motivated Cook to join our team on a casual basis. If you are looking for work-life balance, this is a great opportunity. Whilst Wellness Centre shifts will be generally weekdays 7am – 2pm, your skills will also be required preparing for functions hosted in the Centre. You will be required to prepare food items, catering, and grazing menus, basic baking such as brownies and cookies, as well as stock control and some cleaning. An eye for detail in food presentation and portioning is essential.

The ideal candidate will have the following responsibilities and many more:

  • Assist with planning and preparation of meals for in-house day respite services at the Wellness Centre.
  • Confidently cater to clients with special dietary requirements, including allergies, texture preferences, and other specific needs.
  • Assess food products to ensure consistent adherence to quality standards.
  • Support the maintenance of high service standards in alignment with established guidelines.
  • Identify, develop, and promote business growth opportunities to both existing and potential clients.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety protocols, kitchen cleanliness, and hygiene practices in cooking areas.
