This email is being sent to faculty and staff who will have advisor access in Workday beginning Feb. 17, 2025.

It’s the final countdown! We are 1 week away from Workday becoming WashU’s new system for advising, course registration, student information and administration. Take 5 minutes to complete these 5 steps to get ready:

  1. Download flyers and email templates to send your advisees.
  2. Bookmark the Workday@WashU website.
  3. Register for an instructor-led training session and/or complete the eLearning.
  4. Bookmark the Student Sunrise website.
  5. Know how to get help, including virtual and in-person office hours

1. Download: Flyers & Email Templates

As an advisor, you have access to the following resources to help yourself and your students begin using Workday:

  • Getting Started flyer (cheat sheet) for advisors
  • Getting Started flyers for students
  • Emails for you to send to your advisees – Our student advisory group said they’re more likely to open your emails than ours, so we’d really appreciate your help. Thank you in advance!

View and download flyers and emails (in Box)

2. Bookmark: Workday@WashU website

This one’s the mother lode. Here, you can access all Workday Student training materials for advisors, students, instructors, and more. There are step-by-step tutorials and videos, a glossary, mapping tables showing how data from SIS maps to Workday, and more.

We will update these materials regularly, especially as people begin using the system and provide feedback, questions, etc., so bookmarking is highly recommended over printing.

3. Register: Instructor-led trainings and/or eLearning courses

If you haven’t yet, there’s still time to register for an instructor-led training session. Key benefits of this option include real-time Q&A and access to a training environment where you can practice what you learn.

Tight schedule? Complete the equivalent eLearning course (for faculty and academic advisors, or for supplemental and student support advisors) at your convenience.

Whichever route you choose, you should definitely take the introductory eLearning courses Navigating Workday Student and Reporting in Workday Student. Invest time now to learn your way around the system to reduce frustration later. You’ll be happy you did.

  • Faculty & Academic Advisor training sessions and eLearning
  • Supplemental & Student Support Advisor training sessions and eLearning

4. Bookmark: Student Sunrise website

Go here to review key changes, including processes and terminology, for advisors, students, and other impacted groups like faculty and staff who teach. Each audience-focused page has a timeline showing which systems to use when. For example, continuing students will start using Workday for almost everything, but there are a few exceptions, like registering for Summer 2025 classes in WebSTAC.

5. Know: How to Get Help

  • Attend virtual or in-person office hours,
  • Submit a help request, or
  • Call 314-935-WDAY (9329)

Thank you in advance for your patience and partnership during this transition. Taking the time to explore and share these resources will not only help you navigate the changes ahead but also empower you and your students to make the most of the new system. We’re here to support you every step of the way.
