James and Kalissa Vy

Giving back, starting early

Young alumni James and Kalissa Vy turned their own Augustana experience into a promise for future students. By establishing an award early in their careers, they’re easing financial pressure, encouraging campus involvement and proving that meaningful impact doesn’t wait for a milestone, it starts the moment you decide to give.

Jessica Bennett

From student to health champion

With support from donors, medical student Jessica Bennett is building the skills and confidence to serve where care is needed most, and showing teens in northern Alberta that they can imagine futures in medicine, too. Her story proves how philanthropy strengthens health care today and inspires the next generation of doctors to follow in her footsteps.

One of these isn’t in the U of A Museums and Libraries… can you spot the imposter?

a) A Roman marble bust of Antonia Minor, mother of the emperor Claudius
b) A Greater Prairie Chicken (extinct from Canada, but still in the U.S.)
c) A book of English moths and butterflies published in the 1700s
d) A silk star chart from the Kingdom of Silla
e) A nearly intact fossil of the dinosaur Saurornitholestes langstoni

Thanks to the new Kenneth and Sandra Wong Gallery, you’ll soon be able to see countless real artifacts like these up close — no need to guess what’s real!
