No images? Click here Dear Families, We are thrilled to announce that when Sarah Koenig returns from maternity leave, she will be the Director of the Blonder Family Department for Special Needs! Sarah has been an integral part of this department since 2014. She served as Special Needs Teen Camp Coordinator and then Director of Inclusion. Prior to working at the MJCCA, she worked as a neurological development teacher at Jacob’s Ladder School. Sarah earned a degree from the University of Georgia in human development and disability studies. We wish her well during maternity leave and look forward to welcoming her back. Continuing with the exciting news, Bobby Newman is joining the team full-time as Assistant Director. Bobby has volunteered and worked with SOAR sports and other Blonder programs for many years. He has also spent many summers working at Camp Barney Medintz. We are fortunate to have him as part of the team full time. We wish a farewell to Amy Murphy, who will be working at the Greater Atlanta Jewish Abilities Alliance. We wish her the best of luck and look forward to working in partnership with her in the future! We can’t wait see everyone together at the SOAR Banquet & VSP Dinner Club on Thursday, September 22! Beginning in October, we’re launching our VSP Club Annual Enrollment. Once you pay the annual VSP enrollment fee of only $20, you will be able to attend as many monthly VSP Dinner Clubs as you want. Participants will bring payment for their individual meal. Club Chaverim Next Get-together: Sunday, September 18, 1:00-2:00 pm Join your friends as we hang out in various environments on our campus and build our own sense of community! We will work on relationship and skill building through interactive and fun activities. Blonder Backstage October 19 - November 30 Take a peek behind the curtain to see all that goes into putting on a theater performance! We’ll learn about sound costumes, improv, singing, and dancing in this hands-on class taught be theater professionals. This is a great program for those who have participated in or interested in participating in Jerry’s Habima Theatre. Come check out our new sports offering where you can learn basic skills while using a lighter ball and bat. SOAR Yoga October 25 - December 13 Become immersed in this therapeutic program designed to increase body awareness, strength, and flexibility. Learn calming techniques for the overburdened sensory system and how to quiet a busy head and soothe the nervous system. Informational & Educational Programs Voter Education Series October 19 - November 9 Voting is the most important contribution every single voter can make to insure the health of our democracy. This six-session series will teach how to register, how to complete a ballot, the electoral system, and how to access information on issues important to you. Coming Soon
