Reflecting on our year of impact

Dear SSE Community,

At this time of the year, as we race to wrap things up for 2022 and prepare for the new year, it is important to pause and celebrate the many milestones and achievements of the past twelve months.

Despite the continued challenges thrown our collective way, we have seen communities, businesses and individuals emerge with renewed confidence, tackling complex local and global problems to help improve their lives and those around them. We have been inspired by our many partners and our diverse cohorts of learners, and SSE’s commitment to collaboration and focus on social justice goals will drive our attention in 2023.

It is due to the efforts of our talented and dedicated team, our community of partners, students, and friends that we have achieved so much in 2022. I would like to thank you for all you have contributed this year and we look forward to growing our relationships and accomplishing more with you next year.

I wish you and your families a safe, relaxing and happy festive season, and I wish you all the very best for the year ahead.

Wrapping Up Small Business Month

Discovery at Hoxton Park High School

At the conclusion of Discovery, students from Hoxton Park High School presented their creative solutions to solve real-world problems to a judging panel at their school. Read about the presentation day event.

As we reflect on our impact this year, we are reminded of the insights from our research White Paper “Insights into the NSW Youth Entrepreneurial Education Ecosystem”, produced in collaboration with the team at Young Change Agents, and released in May 2022. The White Paper provides insights into the access to and importance of entrepreneurial education for youth (aged 10-24 years) across the state of New South Wales (NSW). As 2022 comes to a close, we are excited to share news about some of the programs coming up 2023. 

We are please to once again be collaborating with Western Sydney University Launch Pad to create our new Digital Internship Program: Future Cities showcasing innovative startups and scaleups that are creating Australia's Future Cities. 

Also in development is a collaboration with Tech Central to create the new Digital Internship Program: Tech Central showcasing innovative startups and scaleups operating in the thriving ecosystem of Tech Central.

Launching in February 2023, we invite you to express your interest now to participating in these exciting new programs. 

In partnership with the Department of Regional NSW (DRNSW) New England North West, we are working to co-design customised versions of our Invest In Yourself: Exploring Money and Self-Employment program for two unique groups— Ezidi refugee community in Armidale, and First Nation students from the Gomeroi Culture Academy in Tamworth.

As all our programs are learner-centric, SSE is engaging representatives of both communities, to co-design and co-deliver a series of face-to-face workshops in February 2023.
