November 2025

Each month we share the latest news from the National Disease Registration Service (NDRS) including recent publications, data releases and upcoming events.

NDRS is part of NHS England and includes the National Cancer Registration and Analysis Service (NCRAS) and the National Congenital Condition and Rare Diseases Registration Service (NCARDRS). NDRS uses data provided by patients and collected by the NHS as part of their care and support. This data is used to detect changes in the health of the population and to help the NHS improve the diagnosis and treatment of these conditions.

Update to the Tumour Genomic Testing Data dashboard (previously called the Somatic Molecular dashboard)

On Thursday, 13 November 2025, we published an update to the Tumour Genomic Testing Data dashboard (previously called the Somatic Molecular dashboard). This dashboard presents counts of tumours tested for alterations in DNA that can assist in diagnosis or prognosis, or indicate suitability for treatment with a targeted therapy. Data cover tests performed in England from 2016 to 2022, and can be explored by gene, chromosome, tumour site, diagnosis year and results. In addition to including the new 2022 data, the update also includes breakdowns by Integrated Care Boards (ICBs) and data on molecular tests that are not tied to specific genes or chromosomes (largely Microsatellite Instability (MSI) tests).

World Neuroendocrine Cancer Day: Insights from the National Disease Registration Service

10 November was World Neuroendocrine Cancer Day. We collect detailed data on neuroendocrine neoplasms, including neuroendocrine cancers, which can help patients and clinicians understand more about this disease. Our data have been underpinning multiple publications over the past few years, including Incidence and survival of neuroendocrine neoplasia in England 1995-2018: A retrospective, population-based study - PubMed and The geographical distribution of neuroendocrine neoplasms in England (2012-2018) - PubMed. These help us to characterise and better understand outcomes for these patients. You can find the full list of publications using NDRS data on our publications page.
