WINTER SOLSTICE 2021 and New Year 2022

Dear friend:

This white Christmas was such a sweet gift, as heaven and nature sing.  And such a light snow, ‘une poudrerie’ as would be said in Quebec, like the gentlest message of comfort and joy.  Sharing the message of equality, like sunshine and moonlight, this snow is falling just as much for neighbours of all ages, religions and situations, as it is for me.  The typical crunch under the boots, the hush divine, the freshness of cleansed air, the delight of an invitation to go within, all fill me with gratitude and a sense of belonging.

What has changed since the birth of the Christ child and what remains the same? Our needs for unity of humanity, preservation of mother nature and opportunities to contribute still persist.

The first snow signals the last of the fresh porch herbs like cilantro and chives.  With no room to bring them indoors, they join the rest of the garden in wintering over until late February now.  As the year comes to a close, we contemplate the New Year unfolding.

Effective solutions are needed at present to address our individual and collective mental, social and global well-being, I feel.  Fortunately, Ayurveda has commented extensively on well-being for individuals, families and communities.  Individual health is one’s own responsibility and the collective is responsible for public health.  Ayurveda guides toward choosing causes that bring balanced effects to self and others.

If imbalance occurs, Ayurveda teaches how to remove the causative factors, leading to dissolution of symptoms or effects in due course of time.

Meditation remains the basic tool to help rise above differences, obstacles and tribulations, and to perceive one’s inner condition with compassion.  Increased dividends come from continued investment.  Meditation can be quick-acting and capable of restoring calm and clarity as needed, and long-acting to realize the inner Light, the agent of illumination and transformation.

Ayurveda says that mind, body and consciousness are one and that a healthy body gives rise to a healthy mind. A healthy mind can make healthy, sustainable choices for self, family and the collective consciousness.  What’s best about your meditation practice?

PANCHAKARMA IN INDIA:

Panchakarma is the classical cleansing science of Ayurveda for rejuvenation of body, mind and consciousness.

I’ve hosted groups for disease prevention and management in India since 2015, except 2020 and now 2021.  Travel restrictions overseas remains uncertain.  Pandemic conditions still prevail, so wisdom is dictating to postpone our journey planned now for Dec. 2022, travel conditions permitting.

SAVE THE DATES:

SHARE AYURVEDA CONFERENCE:  June 24-26, 2022
THEME:  INTEGRATING AYURVEDA TODAY

Location:  Alumni Centre, University of British Columbia

The upcoming Share Ayurveda Conference features both in-person attendance and online streaming, thanks to our amazing team of volunteers, already busy in preparing this event in service of Ayurveda, to help strengthen our association (sangha) and our message of holistic health and integrative medicine.

Our first Share Ayurveda Conference in May 2018 featured Dr. Vasant LAD as keynote speaker.  Attendees reported a deep and memorable experience of community, networking and uplift from meeting together.  Presenters were mostly from our local Canadian Ayurveda community.  To take a few steps down memory lane, please click here.

Format for 2022 is similar to our inaugural event, featuring an extended Professional Forum on Friday afternoon in the UBC Alumni Centre Board Room.  The chamber is conducive to unity, equality and sharing our contributions with our fellow Ayurveda community members.  Presentations and Panels on Saturday and Sunday will include a healthy vegetarian lunch.  No evening program is planned.

Check out the current plans:

PROFESSIONAL FORUM: Friday, June 24, 2022, 1-5pm

Location:  Board Room, Alumni Centre, UBC

Join fellow practitioners and professionals of our local Ayurveda community to meet and greet one another to help strengthen our common interests and share the benefits of the world’s oldest holistic health science with others.

CONFERENCE EVENT:  June 25-26, 2022

Location:  Jack Poole Hall, Alumni Centre, UBC

Join others interested in the science of Ayurveda, India’s ancient philosophy of healthy living for body, mind and consciousness.  As the world’s original holistic medical science, Ayurveda can contribute greatly to the discussion of best practices of Integrative Medicine in public health, now and going forward.  Integrative Medicine is the future medicine because public health needs cannot be met by a single approach.  Cost-effective-ness now requires integration of proven medical systems, an emphasis on prevention and the long-term view of sustainable plant medicines.

For more details and to enroll, please watch for our new website to launch in January with generous volunteer development.

THIS NEW YEAR IS FULL OF PROMISE.  WHAT IS YOUR KEYWORD FOR 2022?

‘Sankalpa’ or intention is to activate potentials according to a designated purpose, affecting the electromagnetism of body, mind and consciousness.  May 2022 bring opportunity, fulfillment, light and grace to each and every reader.  Ayurveda, Yoga and Meditation unite us in philosophy and life choices. May your way continue to be blessed.

Sincerely,

Jaisri M. Lambert, Founder
