Autumn EditionWelcome to the season of autumn with City of Parramatta! The April school holidays are around the corner - get ready for an exciting variety of sporting and recreational activities. For the first time, we will feature Generation Pound Glow, which is filled with dance and lights, and All Abilities Multisport that includes a variety of activities modified for children with physical, cognitive or sensory impairments. There will be many other things to enjoy throughout the season like our Term 2 fitness activities, after-school sports programs, our new tennis facilities and much more! WHAT'S HAPPENING AROUND THE CITYTerm 2 Fitness Program Active Parramatta's exciting range of affordable health and fitness activities begin at the end of April. There will be a wide range of activities to suit many wellbeing goals. Early bird registrations open on Monday, 3 April 2023 at 9am. The latest schedule will be released soon, so keep an eye out on our page. School Holiday ProgramActive Parramatta’s exciting April School Holiday Program is just around the corner. Enjoy many free sporting and recreational activities like athletics, dodgeball, tennis, dance, netball, football, badminton and more. Registrations open on Monday, 27 March 2023 at 7pm, so don't forget to set a reminder! PAC Update Check out the progress of Parramatta Aquatic Centre (PAC)! The gym will be equipped with 100+ pieces of equipment suitable for all levels of training, as well as personal training and group fitness. Learn to swim classes will be on offer for babies aged 6 months through to adults, in addition to competitive swimming. New Tennis CourtsTennis is a sport for everyone and it is easy to play in the City of Parramatta. We have four new facilities to enjoy including Caroline Chisholm Park in Winston Hills, George Kendall Riverside Park in Ermington, Dunrossil Park in Carlingford and Dundas Park in Dundas Valley which underwent a complete upgrade. Active Parramatta VanOur mobile service delivers an extensive variety of free health and fitness programs for all ages. These include the popular Mums N Bubs Fitness and Better Ageing activities for those 55 years and over. Registrations for Term 2 open on Friday, 21 April 2023 at 9am. Dolphins Swim SchoolThe next learn to swim program commences on Monday, 24 April 2023 from Epping Aquatic Centre and Macarthur Girls High School Pool. Classes are available for both children and adults of different skill levels. Current members may re-enrol now, and registrations for everyone open soon! Over 55s Leisure & Learning ServiceA great range of social, physical and recreational activities are available throughout autumn for the community to enjoy. Term 2 registrations open on Monday, 3 April 2023 with early bird pricing ending shortly after. The latest schedule will be released soon! Multi Sport Program4-12 year olds can enjoy an 8-week program lead by the Australian International Sports Organisation. Filled with soccer, basketball, AFL, hockey, volleyball and more, the program will be held on Friday afternoons in Term 2 at Binalong Park in Old Toongabbie. The cost is $100 per child or free with your Active Kids Voucher. What's On At PHIVEYou don't need a passport to visit the world's greatest cities - just a ticket to the Brickman Cities exhibition! Discover LEGO® skyscrapers and cityscapes including global landmarks, or build your own masterpiece. The exhibition ends on Sunday, 23 April 2023. Sportability ProgramAlongside Collective Leisure, we are pleased to launch a free multisport program for adults with a disability including physical, cognitive or sensory impartments. The program runs on Thursday evenings in Telopea with qualified coaches that can modify activities to suit various interests and abilities. Family and carers are welcome. Free Cricket ProgramA 6-week inclusive cricket program will be held from Sunday, 7 May until Sunday, 11 June 2023 at Ollie Webb Reserve in Parramatta. The Junior Blasters program is designed for 5-7 year olds and the Master Blasters program is designed for 7-10 year olds with basic cricket skills. GRANT PROGRAMSGrants for Participating in Sporting CompetitionsReceive financial assistance for competing in state, national or international sporting championships as competitors, coaches or officials! City of Parramatta's Representative Sports Grant provides up to $1000 for residents of the Parramatta Local Government Area (LGA). For those who don't live in the Parramatta LGA, Sport Australia's Local Sporting Champions provides up to $750 for participants aged 12-18. Sport & Recreation GrantUp to $2000 is available from our Sport & Recreation Grants for projects that increase participation in local sport and recreation activities. The current round closes on 3 May 2023.
