For the past decade, Chancellor’s Associates like you have helped some of California’s brightest students access a world-class education and the pivotal support services to ensure their success.
This year, as we celebrate our 10th anniversary, more than 2,500 scholars have received full scholarships and academic resources that open the door to generational change. I hope you enjoyed seeing how your support has changed their lives in our 2023 impact report.
One of the most remarkable things about the Chancellor’s Associates Scholarship Program (CASP) is how our scholars unfailingly give back to the community. On April 6, students and alumni will participate in UC San Diego’s Global Days of Service through a day of connection and positive environmental action at La Jolla Shores Park.
And on April 9, you’ll have the opportunity to meet some of our exceptional CASP scholars at our annual Hearts & Scholars reception. We look forward to honoring your generous support and celebrating distinguished students past and present.
David E. Buccigrossi ’79, MD ’84
Chair, Chancellor’s Associates
Kayana Hudson ’22 is a UC San Diego CASP scholar who studied sociology and cognitive science. She currently serves as a fiscal/HR assistant for UC San Diego’s Department of Visual Arts. As a recent graduate with plans to grow her career in human resources, Hudson embodies a commitment to supporting student success, particularly for those who are navigating the same challenges she did as the first in her family to attend college and pursue a nontraditional career path.
During her academic journey, Hudson was a lead OASIS Learning Communities facilitator. In this role, she played a crucial role in assisting first-generation students navigate campus life, access resources and find belonging in the university community. Additionally, she gained valuable experience as a student assistant at the Teaching + Learning Commons and executive vice chancellor's office.
Hudson is deeply passionate about creating opportunities for first-generation students to thrive post-graduation. As a GOLD Chancellor's Associates Council member, she hopes to leverage her career in human resources to focus on talent acquisition, retention and professional development to enhance the resources available to CASP scholars.

Josh Ellison Puray ’24 has played a pivotal role in supporting first-generation students as they navigate university life. He guided 17 students as a resource coach in the OASIS Summer Bridge program and co-hosts weekly meetings as a CASP OASIS Learning Community (OLC) leader.
As a first-generation student himself, Puray grappled with imposter syndrome. It often took him longer than his peers to understand course material because he did not have the same resources growing up. He felt inadequate, but in time he learned to embrace his unique journey. As an OLC leader, he hopes to use his experience to instill excitement, foster a sense of inclusivity, and mentor other CASP scholars.
As he wraps up his data science capstone project, he is being onboarded for an internship with the data services team at the San Diego Sheriff's Department and works as a student ambassador for the Halıcıoğlu Data Science Institute. After graduation, he hopes to secure a full-time data science position.
