30 July 2026

Dear Residents,

This month has certainly flown by and the next few months at Council is looking very productive and festive! Kicking off August is the Homebush Village Markets starting at 9am along The Crescent, Homebush, outside Homebush Train Station. There will be road closures in the area. Please read on below for all the details.

Thank you to all the enthusiastic participants who joined Council at Hudson District Park for National Tree Day! I was there and enjoyed meeting residents who like me, have a passion for improving and protecting our environment. Make sure you visit the new trees next time you are at Hudson District Park.

As you may have seen across our socials, I have recently been rediscovering our local parks. So far I have visited Dean and Wallis Reserves and Hudson Park - three very different but equally impressive green spaces, catering for the diverse needs of our community. You can see my short videos on Council's YouTube channel!

If you need to contact me or have any questions, please do so by emailing me cr.bcai@strathfield.nsw.gov.au or ring our office on 9748 9999.

COMMUNITY UPDATE

Thank you to everyone who joined Council for National Tree Day

Thank you to the 230 amazing volunteers who helped plant native trees and shrubs with Council at our National Tree Day Event at Hudson Park while celebrating 30 years of National Tree Day.

The types of species planted on the day included Forest Red Gums, White Feather Honey Myrtles, and Turpentines. These species have been selected to reflect the precolonial vegetation of Strathfield and are locally indigenous tree species that would have occurred extensively across our area. The understorey grasses and shrubs planted play an important ecological role by providing habitat, shelter and food sources for birds, insects, and other native fauna, contributing to increased biodiversity and creating more resilient and functional landscapes in our community.

Thank you again to all the volunteers in the community, Frog and Tadpole Study Group and Olive Tree Café for partnering with Council on the day.

Did you miss out or are you inspired to help care for our local environment? Join Council’s Bushcare program – our upcoming session is scheduled for Saturday 5 September! Click below to learn more.
