The first residents are expected to be welcomed to their new home in late January. Huntly Suites has been purpose built to deliver quality care and will give residents the opportunity to live a fulfilling, secure and relaxed lifestyle in one of the 83 private ensuite rooms. The home offers a level of care tailored to residents’ individual needs and preferences, with professional nursing staff operating round the clock and visits from specialist clinicians to support residents’ aged care needs. Services include both permanent and short-term aged care options. For those living with dementia and needing extra care, there is a specialised memory support household which includes a protected courtyard area with built-in sensory garden and other features. Residents and their visitors will also be able to use the communal areas of the Calvary Kooyong precinct, including the chapel and reflective space and courtyards, the café and St Michael’s Grove community garden. Interested in volunteering? If you enjoy meeting and helping people, then a volunteer role at Calvary Kooyong could be just the ticket. Calvary Kooyong is looking for volunteers to help visitors find their way around the new precinct. The guides would be a first point of contact for patients, residents, visitors and the community, an important role designed to improve the experience of all visitors to the precinct. Training starts in December for guides to be ready to start in January 2023. Other volunteering opportunities are available if guiding is not for you. If Calvary Bethlehem has played a part in your life, or if you live locally, or would like to get into volunteering and be involved at this historic time, the team would love to hear from you. And the sense of community that underpins the Calvary Kooyong precinct has already begun with many of the buyers getting together recently for the first of several informal meet and greet events designed to get to know their new neighbours. Hyson Apartments sales manager Christopher Wilson says interest in the premium Hyson Apartments has been strong from the outset. “The opportunity to be part of a community of like-minded people, and having the security of knowing that they don’t have to leave the precinct, their loved ones and friends as they age or their care needs change has been one of the main reasons people want to come to Calvary Kooyong,” he said. “That underlying precinct concept has been a big driver.” The quality and added features of this premium offering have been another. “We have our display suite on Glen Huntly Road that has a kitchen and bathroom set up, but we also now have an apartment at the Calvary Kooyong site which is fully fitted out and furnished and gives people a real sense of their future home,” Christopher said. “Seeing is believing, and potential buyers can now see for themselves the quality finishes and inclusions, space and incredible views on offer in the Hyson Apartments.” For enquiries about the Hyson Apartments and to book a private inspection, contact Christopher on 0460 320111 or email christopher@hysonapartments.com.au, or visit the display suite at 631 Glen Huntly Road, Caulfield. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Enhancing residents’ lives at the touch of a screenOne of those additional features of the Hyson Apartments is technology that will help give residents peace of mind and keep them informed and connected within the precinct. Each apartment has purpose-built touchscreen technology that provides communication, social engagement, entertainment and safety features that can be individually customised. Calvary Kooyong’s General Manager Shannon Thompson says the system was chosen for its capacity to enhance the lives of residents and to integrate with care services and other aspects of the precinct. “It will keep residents socially connected and up-to-date with activities, events and community life, plus set medication reminders and also function as an emergency alert.” The all-in-one platform provides both a tablet device and an app that residents can use on their own devices. Its social engagement functions extend to families and friends via a supporter’s app, so everyone connected can make video calls, send messages and share photos. Loved ones can also be notified if the system detects any changes in medication routines. There is also a daily ‘welfare check’ function. “Residents needn’t feel overwhelmed by the technology either. It was designed from the outset for use by the tech-shy, or those with poor dexterity, eyesight or early to mid-stages of cognitive impairment,” Shannon said. ![]() Seminar considers the financial side of retirementThere is much to consider for people looking to sell the family home and move into retirement living. The Calvary Hyson Apartments team has been hosting a series of seminars to equip retirees with the information they need. Last month’s session looked at the financial aspects of retirement living. The free retirement finance seminar was presented by industry expert Shaun Ganguly, founder of Retirement Financial Advice and Aged Care Financial Planning. There were many great questions from the audience as Shaun offered guidance on financial decisions and how to make the ones that are right for you. There was also some essential information on recent changes to superannuation contributions, and changes to health concessions on payments and their impact on retirees. The seminar was the last one for this year but further sessions are being planned for 2023, and will be held on site at Calvary Kooyong. If you are interested in attending a future event, please contact Christopher at christopher@hysonapartments.com.au or on 0460 320111. ![]() Founded in 1885 by the Sisters of the Little Company of Mary, Calvary is a charitable, not-for-profit, Catholic health care organisation.
