We're focusing on the future of our natural places in our 2023-24 City Budget
We're protecting and enhancing the Gold Coast as one of Australia's most biodiverse cities and key funds will support the delivery of the Our Natural City Strategy 2032. From our waterways to the hinterland and beaches, the Gold Coast is home to over 3,000 native animal species, 2,500 native plant species, ancient forests and our precious koala populations.
Green behind the gold: The City, Landcare groups and volunteers are working tirelessly to care for our flora and fauna. We're focused on delivering projects that restore our environment and protect our precious wildlife and their habitat.
Maintaining our natural city: The Gold Coast is home to 2,300 parks, 758km of bush trails and 171km of navigable waterways that we pride ourselves on, providing more nature-based experiences for people to enjoy.
Greenheart Stage 1: Construction has commenced to create a new 17 hectare park at the existing Robina City Parklands.
Ongoing investment for wildlife habitat: The budget provides for $4.5 million in land acquisitions including wildlife corridors and parks as we head towards our target of 51% native vegetation cover.
