Community Stories🎉YFS - 40 years of supporting Logan YFS recently celebrated its 40th anniversary with a vibrant event at Kingston Butter Factory, bringing together community members, staff, and partners to honour decades of support for Logan locals. The celebration featured live music, speeches, and the launch of the Stories of YFS campaign, which shares powerful reflections from clients, staff, and partners. These stories highlight the organisation’s impact over four decades and reflect the resilience, growth, and strength of community-driven support. These reviews focus on how Queensland prepared for and responded to recent floods and Cyclone Alfred. IGEM want to hear about what worked well, what challenges were faced, and what could be improved. Submissions are open until Friday, 1 August 2025 and all voices are welcome. These are an important new type of community-based service to support people who are experiencing emotional or suicidal distress. Community members with lived experience of suicide are encouraged to apply to establish a Safe Space in their local area. When: Saturday 16 August, 8am to 1pm ![]() 🚁 FREE emergency training - learn skills that could save a life LifeFlight is offering a FREE emergency trauma training program to teach everyday Queenslanders what to do in the first few minutes after an accident or medical emergency - before help arrives. The training is available online or as in-person workshops and covers practical skills like CPR, treating burns and bleeding, responding to seizures, and more. Workshops are run by LifeFlight’s Medical Educators and can be tailored to suit your group or community. Step up and rock the mic for 2 minutes with your original poem and compete for a spot in the Queensland State Finals! Hosted by spoken word artist Huda the Goddess, the evening includes a slam competition and guest performance. A pre-event workshop hosted by Huda the Goddess will run earlier in the day to help sharpen your slam skills. Bookings required. For ages 13+ and adults. 5pm) ![]() Community Programs🧑🏽🦼➡️Support for First Nations people with disabilities in Logan Access Ed is a program by Carers Queensland and supports First Nations people with disability in Logan, along with their carers, families, and friends. Whether individuals are seeking guidance on the NDIS, looking to connect with local services, or simply keen for a cuppa and a yarn, the team is there to help. Disability support services are also warmly invited to join and connect. No appointments are needed. This program is proudly supported by Logan City Council. When: Monday 8 September, Monday 13
October, Monday 10 November and Monday 8 December - anytime between 9am to 12pm ![]() ↔️ Youth Social Connection Program Now Open for Referrals PCYC Crestmead’s Youth Social Connection Program is now live and welcoming referrals. This free pilot program is open to children, teens, and families across the Greater Logan area, including non-parent carers of children under 18. Participants work one-on-one with a Link Worker to set goals, overcome barriers, and connect with community-based supports. Be fire safe this winter season - join Amputees Queensland and their friendly fire and rescue educator Robert Paterson to find out ways you can keep yourself and your family safe! Be Fire Safety Aware is a Healthy Ageing Hub event, empowering older people to confidently manage their own health and wellbeing in the community. When: Wednesday 16 July 2025, 10am ![]() 🌱 FREE walk and talk program open to the community Black Feather Psychology is offering a free, nature-based therapy program designed for adults curious about working with a psychologist. Held outdoors at Berrinba Wetlands, the program runs across five fortnightly sessions and explores Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) principles in a relaxed, supportive setting. Participants must be experienced walkers (30-40 mins at a normal pace), aged 18+, and unfortunately pets are not permitted. Each session will be supported by two to three attending psychologists. Register for one or all sessions and discover a new way to engage with mental wellbeing. Led by qualified professionals in early childhood education, social work, psychology, speech pathology, and child health, these programs aim to give children the best possible start in life. Families can join sessions such as Baby & Me, Connect to Culture, Play & Learn Together, Young Parents Group, and Connect2Kindy, with tailored support also available for expectant parents and families of premature babies. For this round, Council is encouraging applications for projects and programs with a focus on seniors and/or mental health. With Queensland Seniors Month and Queensland Mental Health Week coming up in October 2025, it’s a great time to bring a meaningful initiative to life. Outcomes advised: Tuesday 23 September. Please note, projects must begin after this date. Applications close: 29 July 2025 Applications are now open for the Queensland Community Road Safety Grants Not-for-profit organisations, schools, and local groups can apply for funding to deliver road safety education projects across Queensland. Grants are available under four streams, including education programs, motorcycle safety, learner driver mentoring, and broader road safety initiatives. Projects should aim to improve road safety awareness and change behaviours in local communities. Applications close: Check the link below for current round deadlines Applications are now open for 2025 Health and Wellbeing Community Grants. The aim of the Community Grants is to encourage and support community-led projects across Queensland to improve health and wellbeing within the community. Successful projects will focus on achieving positive outcomes in nutrition, physical activity, sleep, wellbeing and/or health equity for priority or at-risk populations in Queensland.
